Motor Swap

Want everyone's thoughts on this. I have a couple of F150s and they both have. 4.9l six's. looking for solid axle swaps I came across two turbocharged projects. Both used early Chevy v8 diesel turbos with no intercooling. One had the turbine downstream of where the cats would have been. The other had the turbine on one of the exhaust manifolds with y from the other manifold also feeding the turbine. This later setup used a megaquirt and 24lb injectors for fuel supply on the stock ECM. He dynoed 300whp and 525wtrq. One one my 4.9l's is built with forged parts fastened with ARP hardware. To negate building a windsor block to handle the cylinder pressure, I am contemplating swapping my six into my mustang and fabricating a propper turbo setup to match the motor. Based on the two Chevy turbo based projects, I was thinking 400whp and 600wtrq would be easily achievable. Your thoughts. If an SN95 won't fit the block the foxes had a six in them.

If it only made 300hp at 525trq, it sounds like there is a lot of HP thats getting lost somewhere.

You are talking about the inline-6 right? Not sure exactly how it would fit in a SN95, but it would be badass!! Inline 6s can be made into monsters.

there are so many easier swaps to do why on earth would you want to swap your 4.9 into the stang. By time you finish you will have spent enpough time and money to build a blown stroker lol

^^^ What he said...Pick up an aftermarket block, decent rotating assembly, and throw tons of boost at it. That'll be a better option..

Forget about trying to fit a big inline six under the SN95 hood. It's too long to fit from front to back and too tall to fit under the hood. Even if it did fit, you'd have more weight in front of the wheels which would increase understeer and diving under braking.
