Best mods for the money?

Ive got a 94 gt 5 speed i have had my car for a bout a year and its bassicly stock execpt short throw shifter, 3.73s,and flow master mufflers. I have had about a year has around 150k on it. Ive got the bugs worked out as far as i know and im ready to start my build. this is my daily driver so i dont want to git to carried away. What i would like to see is something around the 300rwhp mark. What is the best and most cost effectve to achieve this?

Trick Flow top end kit (170cc FAC heads, Track Heat intake, TFS1 cam, 1.6 RRs, timing set, pushrods), 75mm TB, 76 or 80mm MAF, CAI, LT headers, O/R midpipe, 255lph fuel pump, 24lb injectors, tune.
You could also reduce parasitic HP losses by adding an underdrive crank pulley and bypassing the smog pump/AC with a shorter belt.

ok thanks what do you feel would be the best thing to start with besides the tf top end kit. also or x pipe vs or h pipe and can i use headers off a fox body

Start with the headers and midpipe. If you're going for long tubes, you'll need the '94-'95 specific items. I recommend MAC long tubes and a MAC O/R H-pipe.

unfortunatly you can not bypass the smog with a shorter belt on the 94-95 5.0 there is no way to reroute the belt without making it rub, you can do a smog delete and put a smog delete pulley that bolts on your factory bracket mount I would would start with o/r x pipe xpipes give more hp then hpipes and hpipes give more torque then a set of underdrive pulleys, CAI, 70mm tb and MAF you dont need bigger then that unless your going with forced induction then i would get a set of aluminum heads you can go cheap with gt40 or buy a nice set of aftermarkets for big gains, then get you a nice intake you can buy the gt40 for this also but i would recommend getting 94-95 cobra intake for a direct bolt on other years require drilling and tapping for the egr then get it tuned and should be 300+

Actually you can and I'm not the only one who's done it. Just use a shorter belt and reroute it according to these diagrams.

O wow spent about 2 days on Google researching this and everyone said it wasn't possible looks like a trip to the auto parts store for me today

Probably not. The correct belt size will depend on the pulley combination and those diagrams assume stock pulleys.

No. I have an ASP underdrive crank pulley so I'm running a 78.5" belt (6PK1993) which I really had to fight to install. A 6PK2010 (79.1") would have been ideal but I couldn't find one. Anyway, the 6PK1993 has stretched a bit since I installed it so it's OK.
Before I deleted the AC I was using a Gates K060868 belt (86.8") which fitted perfectly.

The ASP underdrive crank pulley combined with the AC/smog pump short belt bypass is worth ~8rwhp. That's excellent considering the pulley costs only $40 and the belt another $20. Deleting the smog pump with pipes/valves and deleting the AC system (except for the evaporator) has saved me 43lb in weight at the front and created a lot of extra underhood space:

good stuff man. i will be parking my car for a good part of the summer by the end of april. I look forward to busting out this inexpensive mod. Plus the weight drop of 40+ lbs is always helpful. thanks for the info.
