My TPS is acting up.

Ok I got the throttle body off, and I'm in the process of getting the two bolts holding the sensor on, off. How do I reset or get more Volts to the TPS?

Isnt this the IAC(Idle Air Control)? Were you experiencing any rev surges? Mine acts up frome time to time, usually between P to R. Or even from R to D. Let me know if im wrong, the guys that tuned my car said it needed a new one, or cleaning it might help.

I was also told, if you do need to replace, stay away from autozone, advance, go to Ford. Last i checked at the parts dept. @ my local Ford, 175.00+( thats why ive yet to change it. I just blip the gas as the tranny is changing and it works, but it does get old.

You don't get more volts to the TPS. It either works or it doesn't. Check the voltage with the key on and throttle blade closed. If it's between .5v and 1.19v then it's within spec. Then open the throttle all the way and check the voltage. As long as it's 2.71v above your tb closed value it's within spec too. Then open the throttle slowly and watch the meter. It should smoothly increase in voltage. If the readings are erratic and jump around while you're moving the tb open, the TPS is shot.

You need to check if that one is bad first like how I described. If it is bad, then yes it will run better with a new one. I forgot to hook mine back up once and the car ran all kinds of fucked up and then stalled and wouldn't restart. Hooked the sensor back up and it started and ran fine.

You're checking this with the key on correct? Going by this diagram, You'll need to check between the vref and sig return wires to make sure the TPS is getting the proper 5v signal in and ground reference. Gray/red should be your vref and brwn/wht should be your sig return. Put the black lead of your meter on the sig return and the red lead on the vref and you should see 5 volts with the key on. If you do then you need a new TPS. If you don't then you have issues with your wiring, a connector, or the EEC.

Edit: if your meter reads-5v then I have the vref and sig return backwards. Either way will work. Just as long as it reads 5v or -5v. All -5v means is that the leads are backwards.

Ok so wait, black to the middle wire, and red to the red and grey? Or vis versa? I never got anything to either.

The brown/white wire should supply 5v to the TPS (Vref) so you need to tap that one and a ground to find out if you're really getting a 5v reference voltage.
The output voltage from the TPS to the PCM is carried by the middle wire (grey/white). You need to tap that one and a ground to measure the voltage with ignition on, engine off. It should be around 0.95-1.00v with throttle closed, and increase gradually as you slowly open the throttle blade to a maximum of about 4.5v. If there are any voltage spikes or dips as you open the throttle, the TPS is shot.
The third wire (grey/red) is the ground.
This article explains everything:

Setting the Mustang TPS Voltage

Well I mean if it's not acting like it should? Then what else could it be? Like what else could it be other than the TPS?

If the TPS isn't acting like it should, replace it. Worst case scenario is that you won't cure the problem and you'll have a good TPS as a spare.
