My friend has a 94 cobra project car we have been working on. He is wanting to do a ecu swap and found a 88 5.0 ecu for a good price in town. My question is will the 88 ecu work because it came from an auto car and the 88 isn't maf. Any help?

the older fox body ecus work you just have to repin the harness in the 94-95 cars. its not the easiest thing to tackle but it can be done. the older ecus have better timing curves in them thats why people swap them out and have tunes done, as far as the auto and 5 spd difference im not sure. i have a 94 5spd and used an ecu out of a fox body 5 spd but i dont know if they are interchangable

94-95 computers are better than the fox computers. The timing curves weren't as good in stock form, but once you tune them that doesn't matter anymore, and they're a better computer. If you're going to spend the money and effort on a fox computer, just have the one that's in there tuned and you'll be better off.
