Wheres my short?
1995 Mustang GT convertible
Battery kept dying when sitting overnight Got new alarm system as old one was malfunctioning Charged the battery and it still does it The only other noticeable problem is that my dash clock goes out occasionally...it comes back at the right time, so it obviously is not losing total power to it. Am tired of recharging the battery It is relatively new and checked out fine at the autoparts store. |

What you have is not a short, it is a parasitic battery drain.

So any idea how I find the parasite?
I had a shop go through the fuses with a volt meter...said they couldn't find the drain... Guess I will have to take it to an auto electrical specialist....Then I will have a wallet drain too!!! |

Thanks Bubba! Still seems a bit out of my realm...either gonna put it on a trickle charger every night or disconnect the battery every night until I can save up enough for an electrical specialist to tackle this one...Can't stand summer without my convertible!!!

I would take it back to the shop, my money is that they wired the alarm in wrong somehow, or there is a light or something getting left on overnight

If the parasite battery drain didnt start until after the installation of the new alarm i would start there. Did u install it or did a shop do the work? If the shop did it take it back and make them figure it out.
On another note. Check your cigarette lighters my cousin has a penny fall in one of hers and it was draining the battery. |
