BBK-SSI intake does fit under stock hood

I copied and pasted this post I made on another site here as usfull info

Does something look off here?????????

Yep, that's a stock hood back on my car. Since I forgot to use my hood pins the other week I too have joined the club of people who have seen their hood fly up on the road and smash the windshield. Here's an I-phone pic of it at Safelite:

I got the glass fixed the next day but my hood got damaged in the cowl area and it also broke the plastic cowl vent/panel where the wipers go when it ripped one of the hinges clean off it's perch. I re-bent the hinge back to shape and got the hood to close again. Luckily my brother had a spare panel/vent i used to replace the broken one so the last thing left was to fix the hood. I decided to go to the yards and look for a stock hood I could use while I worked on the R hood. I found this one in almost the same color of the car.

I drilled out the holes for the hood pins and it worked. Now the problem is it's not supposed to work. I have the BBK-SSI intake on my car. One of the requirements for using this intake on a 94-95 is the use of a Cobra R hood or equal for clearance. I already had that hood when I purchased the intake so never could try it out for my self. It sucks for anyone who may want to use this intake but then discovers they'll also have to buy a hood now too along with the other little things needed. The whole time while I was looking for a replacement hood I had it in the back of my mind that it'll never fit anyways but I had other plans for the stock hood regardless.

I removed the insulation from the bottom of the stock hood since it was crap. All that was needed for this hood to fit was to notch a small piece of hood on the back side.

If your running CC plates like the ones I use from Steeda then you may have to place notches on the side of the hood where the one bolt from the plates comes into contact.

I must add that I'm using the Energy Suspension Poly motor mounts. I don't know if they are shorter, taller, or the same hight then the stock ones.

I believe this is good info for someone wanting to run the SSI intake and keeping their stock hood.
