Here's my theory on how lowering the car will help with this problem:
(excuse my crude paint skillz!) ![]() If I lower the car, the spindles stay put but the K member and steering rack will have to come down. When they come down, the arms will be more parallel to the ground which is better. I think in a normal setup, when you lower your car, the rack ends up being below the mounting points for the outer tie rods. So you need to use offset rack bushings to bring the rack back up level with the spindle mounting point. On my car, if what I've read is correct and the rack is mounted slightly higher now with the 94/95 K member, then lowering my car will bring the rack closer to parallel. I will take some pics of the way it is now and the way it turns out after I lower the car in a couple days, maybe even tomorrow.

Yea $300+ is hard to shell out for something that doesn't really add anything to the car. If you can't fix it to your satisfaction you could always just switch back to the 94 A arms and spindles. I think the change in 96 was really more to accommodate the wider 4.6l than to improve handling. I doubt you would lose anything noticeable from going back the the 94 setup.

Well, it'll be kind of hard to do that since I already sold all the 94 brakes. I think this will work fine. I looked under there today and it's not as extreme as they make it out to be.

Im wanting to do this exact swap. Except from a 95 GTS to a 99 V6. Is there anyway to get this through NC emissions ? I have a 95 with a 347. A freind gave me a 99 free. It just needs a timing belt. lol Yours looks awesome man !! Very nice work.

No, it won't pass emissions no matter how clean you get it running. You're not allowed to go backward in years with the engine. I know it sucks, but hey, you can always move to another state that doesn't require emissions testing. May sound like a lousy reason for having to relocate but if you're younger and are not buying your house it may pay off in the long run!

But it's all very simple if you have a good grasp on wiring systems and good schematics. Probably easier at that point to just swap the 99-04 body panels to a 94/95 chassis. It's all bolt on stuff except for the rear quarters.

Update: (aren't those fun). Since completing this swap I've since installed a Vortech V2 blower on the car. It put down 370 rwhp and 400 rwtq.
I have a dyno video but it's not the one that made the numbers above. After about 5 runs I got tired of filming and just said to hell with it! Here's pics and a video: 1999 Mustang 5.0 Vortech V2 SQ Dyno Run - YouTube ![]() ![]()
