I just put a 90 GT motor in a 94 GT and I can not get any power out of it, the 94 motor had the same problem,
it will not even get out of its own way and is worse when it warms up. PLEASE HELP !!!
My wife wants to drive her car and she is making me crazy.

Did you reuse the sensors? Maybe your coolant temp sensor?

So it starts up fine and idles fine but it just wont move? Does it drive ok until it warms up? If the 94 engine did the same thing then I think it's not the motor doing it. Need more info. Maybe your brakes are locked. Maybe the rear end is too.

Yeah I was also going to say plugged up cats. You could also try cleaning the MAF sensor element.

The cats have been gutted, fuel pressure is 38-40lbs, coolant temp sensors are new, and the rearend and the brakes are not locked up, also MAF sensor has been cleaned.
starts good idles low about 500-600 in park, when it warms up it runs worse.

Off topic, is that your engine in your avatar?

Back on topic your engine should be around 900 rpm at idle. By any chance did you break one of the tiny wires at the end of the MAF? Check your plug wire also. They could be arcing off onto the headers or any other metal if their old and cracked. This would make the car only run on the cylinders that aren't touching and act erratic.

Sounds like a problem I had with my old Camaro where, it would start up, idle, and then gas and it would just sputter and die. Turned out to be the distributor, give it shot cause from what you've said it sounds pretty similar.

one thing that I forgot is that when I take out the spout to time it, the timming mark is still fluxuating a few deg on either side of the pointer

Interesting. Sounds like the outer ring of the harmonic balancer is slipping on the inner ring. Check the balancer and see if there's any rubber protruding out between the two rings. You might need to replace the balancer to get the timing right.

With the spout out the timing should be locked with no fluxuation, if its fluxuating, then I would have to look into what Bullitt said.. possible bad balancer. When you pulled the plugs how do they look and what exactly are you setting the timing to?

I have a new balancer and the old one still looks good
it still has the 94 ECU in it
plugs look good, and trying to set timming at 10-14 deg but does not work out.

Got that problem fixed with a new ignition system,
now just need to set the idle,
it idles at about 650-700 in park, way 2 low,
should be there in drive.
