Just heads?

So I know in order to get the most power I need to do the hci all at once and then a tune, but unfortunately my budget won't allow it right now. So what I'm asking is if I just buy the heads will my engine be fine or will I choke it down too much without an intake and cam? Would it make more sense to do all the bolt on right now?? Which of the 3( hci) would be the best by itself without the other 2?(if one even falls in the category) Thanks for your input!

It won't hurt anything if you want to go ahead and replace the heads before the intake and cam. Since you can swap the heads without touching the cam that's a non issue. And the great thing is you'll still pick up a nice increase in power and when you're ready to add the intake and cam later, you won't have to disturb the heads!

So you will be alright either way you go.

Or you can wait till you get everything together, you can save money on the gaskets, etc.

Heads would probably be the easiest thing to do first. The intake install isn't a big deal, but it would make your life easier to change them out at the same time as the heads if you can. Heads will also give you the biggest power gain out of the three. Unless you plan on going stroker or forced induction/spray, there is nothing really wrong with the stock cam. The only real gain you will see out of a cam swap is sound (which is important in its own right) and a change in the power curve with maybe a 10-15hp increase when combined with the heads and intake. Cam is definitely the last thing you should do to the motor...if at all.

More than likely you will need the head bolts. As for the injectors, the stock ones I hear are good up to around 325hp~ or so. I don't think you will need to change them out just upgrading the heads. After the other mods, you may need 24lb injectors or higher. Just depends on the tune.
