the lower intake is pretty small, and from what ive read its not worth doing that to a stock intake manifold..if you have a little extra cash, you can pick up a cobra intake for about $200 and thatd be worth it

what kind of horsepower geins can i expect to get from porting the stock manifold? i have a nice polished manifold and would really like to keep it since it looks good on the car.
Depends on who's porting it. The lower intake is very restrictive (especially the front no.1 and no. 5 runners) so it doesn't take much work to improve it substantially. Contact tmoss. He's the intake porting expert and is very capable of extracting a lot of HP/TQ out of stock parts.
Not worth the time or money to port a stock intake unless youir doing it your self.....If you plan on having some one else do it then IMO its a waste of money
Probably true and that also applies to the stock E7 heads. I ported my own stock intake/heads and with all the other bolt-ons, my Stang put down 229rwhp/277rwtq which was 61rwhp/59rwtq more than stock. Pretty good, I thought, until I did the Edelbrock Performer intake swap ($182 from ebay). That added a further 15rwhp/7rwtq and 1mpg so really, you might as well swap in a better intake from the outset.
ok dually noted, well what is an intake i can grab aside from a nice trickflow intake thats not as expensive to ge good geins out of, i know you guys have told me the cobra intake and the explorer intake but would there be anything else?
