you can swap the suspension but the GT stuff isn't all that better than the v6 stuff.

I would go after market to be honest.

make sure it's a complete engine too..
that includes all the accesories.... ie alternator,pulluys.. ect.

umm 5.0 swap huh, since your going tru the trouble you might as well add these stuff to make it better.

Engine:
You might as well since you have the engine out:

Long Tube Headers
off road x or h mid pipe (if your non emission)
high flow cats mid pipe (if you have to do emission test)
Flowmaster 40 series Muffler
Cold Air Intake (or remove the air silancer from the factory GT one)

Suspention:
Since your in the rear end do:

3.73 Gears for 5 speed or
4.10's for Auto
Upper and Lower Control Arms (tublar preffer)
Subframe connectors
strut brace bar
You can lower it now or later on, to about 1.5 inch no more than 2, if you do you might need c/c plates
(this will make it handles better than the GT)

So you might want to save up some more and try to get those done if you can or make a list on what to do later on.

good luck... let us know how it comes out.

if it is a project car go carb....its easier, cheaper and if tuned right faster. you also didnt specify what type of transmission you ahve but if it is the t-5 they are the same in a v6 and v8, the difference is the bellhousing. the holes for the starter are moved a quarter inch in to accomadate the smaller flywheel since the v6 use an 11" clutch and the v8 only use a 10.5" clutch. PM me if you have questions im just completing my swap this week....hopefully drving it on monday

have you got a 5.0 picked out already? Have you considered using a 351W? You could get one for the same price and you will make a ton more power....just a thought
