Shifter problem

Converted my car from 5 speed to auto and my shifter sits too high. The bezel will not clip into the console. Any know how to get it to fit properly?

everytime i try it says the file is too big. The bottom of the shifter (the part with the initials p,r,n etc) sits about an inch higher tham the center console.

You can upload it at tinypic.com without having to sign up or anything and post a link from there.

Is it just the letter part or the actual shifter itself?

If its just the letter part, it goes under the other console parts. As in, there's no way to fit it right without tearing down the bottom dash and center console.

If it is the actual shifter part that is causing this, well, idk what to tell you. Does the T-5 and the AODE use different trans mounting bars??

I got together with another guy that wanted to convert his to 5 speed so we swapped everything. I just dont know whether to beat in where the shifter mounts or what.

can you put it into all the selections? (P - 1st ) if so just take that plastic thing off, and put a leather boot, unless you REALLY need the plastic cover.

Could it have something to do with the cross member. Is the 5 speed cross member the same as the auto? Could it be pushing the tranny upward? Don't know if there's a difference between the 2 but if there is then I'm sure that's what's going on.

We swapped cross members also. The shifter is bolted in and thats where it sits.

Have you considered taking out the shifter? and just seeing if something was wrong. I've never done a 5speed to Auto swap.. soo these are just guesses.
