Roush 3 piece intake dyno numbers. 120rwhp over stock? Look here!






Stock 5.0 mustangs put down 180-195rwhp stock give or take. The first dyno run was without the TB change. With the Roush 3 piece intake, a B31 cam, longtubes, 75mm TB and Roush cnc ported heads untuned with just a fuel pressure adjustment made 308rwhp and 306rwtq. Thats right around what Roush's claimed 120hp over stock with only a slight cam change, longtubes and a bigger TB! I know its not a completely stock 94-95 Roush stage 3 (try to find 1 for testing) but those are damn good numbers! Could this be the best 5.0 intake to date? Sux only around 100 were made.....

Those numbers seem to be on par with most OTS HCI combos. I know your stoked to have a rare intake but as I stated earlier its nothing special besides the fact that not many were made. Dont kid yourself into thinking adding that intake is going to net you 100+hp. Any well put together HCI combo will put down 300+hp.

I'd like to see a dyno run on a completely stock gt then another run with the intake be the only change. Maybe a upgraded tb, and maff but that's about it.

Me too! Im trying to find out as much info as possible to justify Roush's claimed 120hp.

With just the cam and longtubes it put down 285rwhp and 307rwtq. Thats pretty good imo.

I don't know if it would help, but the shop in that video is Stang-Hi Performance in Baton Rouge, LA. Maybe they would know some info?

Those are OK numbers but nothing special for an H/C/I 302. The torque curve does look table top flat from 3500-5300rpm.

if you noticed it looks like they shut the dyno down around 5250 and the hp numbers seem to keep climbing. i wonder why they shut it down so soon? id like to see where this intake falls off and stops climbing. Roush intended on it being a high rpm hp maker so where will it stop making power?

wow! 364 hits with only 28 replies. i guess info on this intake is as rare as the intake its self lol! with the size of the intake and the 3 inch runners im dying to find out some flow numbers compared to whats on the market now. im starting to think that nothing of today even compares when it comes to how much cfm it flows. i mean its gotta be good to run with the 351 Cobra R of the time with just a 302 with this intake right? according to Roush thats why he produced this intake system. he wanted to show he could make a 302 run with the 351's on the track and he did.

Ever since I learned of this intake about 8 years ago, I've been wanting to get one for my '95 Cobra.......if only for the dyno comparison. I've seen only 1 complete kit available for sale in that time and it would not have been fiscally responsible of me to lay out the cash for it at that time lol.......
There was an issue of Mustang Trader (sub-print of Auto Trader) that had a few page long article about the '95 Roush Stage III.....it was a blue car and it had a good picture of the engine with the Roush intake on it.

When I first saw it I was blown away by the size of the thing and how large the runners were. I couldnt believe its been here all this time and I never even knew about it. Its a great piece of Mustang and Roush history for sure. Cant wait to get it installed, and see what kind of numbers it makes on the rollers with 10psi of boost!
