After cleaning IAC valve, still the 1-2 automatic mis-shift...

So ever since i had the car tunned (never went WOT before the tune) i started to enjoy the power my car was making. A few things i noticed tht were still off was the surging idle (spontaneous), the car would die when getting out of Park and into reverse, or from Neutal to Drive, and lastly (usually when racing) while enjoying the roar of the SBF in first gear, the mis shift happens, car nose dips down, second gear goes in.

Im wondering if the idle issue would have anything to do with this mystery of the 1-hiccup-2 gear shift?

Here is a video clip of the way the car acts between the P-R/N-Drive or Reverse action. At the end of the clip, i got on it and surely the hiccup happened. I had just finished cleaning the IAC valve to see if it got any better, no luck. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Thats a fairly high idle. Do you have a cam? My car will do that from time to time when putting it in gear. Its not very often though.

You may have a transmission on its way out or its just a solenoid or something electrical.
When was the last time you put fresh tranny fluid in? Try running some Lucas trans no-slip additive. It's somewhat expensive ($11~) but I have heard nothing negative about it. I'm going to run it in my tranny and rear end when I have money to blow.

The idle was hanging at about 850-900rpm before the cleaning of the IAC, and now its a bit closer to 1000 rpms. Cam is a Trickflow Stage 1.

Never changed the tranny fluid since i purchased the car. I do check the level to make sure it doesnt run low, but ive never had to top it off. Im gonna try the fluid change and hope it helps. Where are the selenoids located on these AODE trannys?
Just to be clear; Is what happened in the video considered a slip?

If the tranny goes out, what are some good alternatives without breaking the bank?

Thanks again.

I have no idea where the solenoids are, sadly. They may be shown in a Haynes book or you can do some extensive searching on the internet. I just know they are known for causing weird tranny problems.

I would call that a slip. It's similar to what was happening when mine was going out. I never hit WOT though so I can't say for sure. I would try to keep out of the throttle for a while. The harder you push it, the worse it's going to get.

Does it only do it at WOT or all the time?

I'm going with a solenoid/electrical issue then. If it were truly slipping, it would happen a lot more often.

(Scratching head)

Today my Check engine light came on, i wonder if it is the tranny or electrical if the computer records a code. Im sure it will at least give me a lead to my idle issue.

The shift solenoids are on the valve body. Your idle issue could be a simple air leak. Check your intake hoses and vac lines. I had an air leak right after the MAF and it made my transmission behave differently, and my engine ran hot because of it's lean condition.

Really!?

As i was cleaning the IAC valve i did notice a small crack on the coupler after the MAF. Didnt think much of it, i figured the clamp would seal it. Ill take a pic firs thing in the morning...mhhhhh i think ur on to something.

Would one way of testing for leaks be spraying carb cleaner on vaccum and connecting hoses while the car is running?
