Front K Frame
I have been looking through the forum and have not found what I was looking for. I have had a massive project going on for the last 4 years that has changed directions several times. but one thing has stayed the same it is getting a 302 dropped into it. The car started as a 1998 V6, and currently is completely gutted with a newer 1994 GT body dropped onto it. the V6 body had an unkind encounter with a lightpole. My question is what differences if any are there between the 3.8L V6 subframe and the 5.0L V8 subframe. I have the front K Frame that came out of the 1994 body and has the 5.0 Motor mounts on it, but can those subframes be interchanged with just changing the motor mounts? I am trying to get this car to just drive at the moemnt, I am reinstalling the 3.8's wiring harness and dash along with fuel tank. So that the car is running and drivable while I find other parts. Can I use the v6 subframe later and just change the mounts or do I need to keep a hold of the other subframe thanks for any information.

I'm pretty sure they were all the same structure wise from 94-98. Take the mounts off the 5.0 frame and see if they drop into the 98' K-member.
The only ones that were different were the cobras. 94-95' the cobra had a stiffer K-member (honestly think that isn't true..) and the 96-98' had the beastly DOHC 4.6 which is externally a LOT bigger than the old OHV or SOHC 4.6s.

the 98 k-member bolted right into place on the 94 body. so I think if worse comes to worse I can make the v8 motor mounts fit onto the v6 subframe, cause I can not see a difference and have taken several measurements, the problem with dropping the mounts into the place, is the V6 is currently installed under the 94 body, and I am trying to get it up on the road again with the v6 under it until I have all the suspension pieces I need/want, and a 5 speed to go behind the 302
Thanks for the input |
