Need Help With 94 GT
He guys I need some opinions on what my problem could be. I recently took out the smog pump out of my car because the smog pump pulleys grooves were all messed up and it would make this annoying low pitch whine and the pipe leading under the car was rattling and that got annoying aswell. I bought the car like that and i didn't drive it much so it didn't bother me (had it for a year and a half and only drivin it for 2000 miles). I started driving it a little more and both things got really annoying so I decided to take the smog crap off. When taking it off I noticed the pipe that goes under the car was never even connected to anything ( guessing that's where the rattling came from). For now I just have the wire that comes from the fenderwell taped, also the pipe that comes from the back of the engine. Just so nothing gets into them. I don't plan on driving it much till everything is properly sealed. I need help on what to permanently put instead of tape to seal it. Also do I need to get the part that the should of held the pipe under the car welded to seal it? But the problem I'm having whenever I drive the car for more than about 20 miles or do a couple of doughnuts smoke comes out from under the hood. I have a brand new aluminum radiator, hoses, coolant, thermostat and water outlet and the temp gauge is right in the middle where it should be. I turn the car off and it can turn right back on without a problem and run fine. Why does the smoke come out though? Sorry for writing an essay on my topic. Just trying to tell you guys as much as I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the pipe that runs to you cats you can use a high tmp hose and slip it over one end of the pipe and the other side slip it over the pipe coming off the cats. use some hose clamps to..
one problem with you taking the smog pump off is that it sends air to the cats and hekps them clean the exhaust, with out that you will clog up your cats. this is mainly a problem if your running the factory cats, if there after market then its not as bad. so my advice is to either run an off road h-pipe (cheapest rout) or put the smog pump back on or chang to an after markey h-pipe with cats.

The smog pump does help lower emissions, but it won't help if it's not connected to anything. The pipe leading to the exhaust was disconnected on mine when I bought it too. It's easy to eliminate it, basically pull the stuff off and get a shorter belt. This diagram was a big help for me when I pulled the smog crap out. http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...lt_routing.jpg
The pipe leading under the car, just yank that crap out and weld the pipe closed, I welded a flat washer to the end of mine but I've also clamped the tube flat with pliers and ran a small bead to seal it. About the smoke coming from under the hood, have you checked your PCV system? That being disconnected can cause smoke to come out from under the hood and make it smell oily too, especially after driving it hard.

Ok I just ordered an off road MAC prochamber today so hopefully I get it soon since the stock mid pipe with 4 cats is still in place. I also put silicone on the two hoses coming from inside the fenderwell. I'll clamp them tomorrow just to make sure. And for the metal pipe coming from the top back of the engine I plugged it by putting penny with hi temp silicone. Will that work in the long run?? And for the pipe that was running under the car ill get the place that was supposed to be connecting them welded shut once my prochamber arrives. And furreal302 do by any chance have a link or something to help me locate where the pcv valve is?? The smoke does smell oily.

I don't remember any hose coming from the fenderwell on mine. There were vacuum lines but that was it. Just yank everything out of the car, plug the vacuum lines, crimp the little tube coming off the stock H pipe and use a large bolt and a small piece of hose for the tube coming from the back of the engine.
The PCV valve is at the base of the lower intake manifold in the back. Just follow the large vacuum line that comes off the upper plenum and makes a sharp turn down toward the block in the rear of the motor.
