Few Electrical And Oil Problems.. Help?

Hey guys, so im having a few issues i want to take care of before i get into building the hp next spring. heres a list of whats going on, feel free to respond to all or just one if you had a similar issue and or have some knowledge to share. I dont really have any tools anymore so i would appreciate a list of must haves when it comes to these models.. I have only metric stuff as i have been a sportbiker for years so i realize that those dont usually work well on american made..

I did use the search on here fall each and every problem.. found some helpful info and some more confusing.. this thread is to find specific help on my issues so please work with me.. I plan on doing all the work myself so i will need some sort of direction as to what to do and or replace/fix..

Issues:

1: squeeing from clutch... As the car sits at lights in nuetral without the clutch pushed in it squeels, and lightly squeels as im driving.. in both scenarios i can stop the noise by lightly pushing on the clutch pedal. Throw out bearing?

2. the other night i was driving and my headlights started flickering and then turning off as i drove for up to 3 seconds at a time but stopped after about doing it for 5 min... I was on a rural hwy so i had nowhere to stop so it was not fun.. no clue what could be doing this.. it does look like the headlight housing may be allowing some moisture to get in but not much.. It was very foggy that night and i had only been driving for 10 min at the point it started happening.

3. I noticed today that while i was driving the temp gauge would randomly drop down to the cold line and then jump back to normal.. No overheating, fluid was a little low.. I believe i have a leak but no clue where.. no drip spots anywhere... no white residue.. no clue.. my light comes on once every other week so i to it off in the res, radiator is always full..

4. when i start the car cold, i need to hold the rpms at around 1k for about 30 seconds or it will die, wont idle on its own till what it seems like i set the idle.. then i drive down the road, warm her up and whatnot, go grab some gas and then when i start it again it will hold the rpms around 850 then the rpms and the voltage meter bounce up and down from 300rpm to 1400.. sometimes dying because the rpms drop so low while surging.. again i have no clue, just need a new battery or battery and alternator?

5. i bought the car 2 months ago. fresh oil.. 10-30 basic is what they said.. my low oil light has come on twice now, each time about a qt low, the first time i thought they just didnt put enough oil in but then it came on again last week.. put another qt in, no light.. also no drip marks in any of my parking spaces and i had my wife follow me while i ran it through the rpms to see if i was blowing black smoke at high rpms and she said the exhaust wasnt discolored at all.. 188k on motor, they said rebuilt 2 years ago with less than 20k since and i have put 2k on since i bought it..

Any help is more than appreciated!

i can take a stab at number four.

it might be your MAF, try unplugging it and running the car, if it seems better with it unplugged, then theres your source. i would just clean it with some non-chlorinated brake cleaner, and then put it back on.

it could also be your O2 sensors, or an exhaust leak. take a listne in the engine bay for any noise that doesnt sound right and follow the exhaust all down the car. ive had a similar problem to yours, and when i took my x-pipe off, and then bolted it back up after fixing some leaks, the car ran great.

BUT, these are jsut my 2 cents.

Yeah, that does sound like it's the TO bearing.

2. the other night i was driving and my headlights started flickering and then turning off as i drove for up to 3 seconds at a time but stopped after about doing it for 5 min... Check for loose electrical connections to the back of the headlights and check the grounds.

The problem will either be a thermostat sticking open or a faulty gauge sending unit. Small coolant leaks can be very hard to find 'cause the coolant may evaporate before you can see it. The only clue might be brown stains. You can have the cooling system pressure tested to find the source.

4. when i start the car cold, i need to hold the rpms at around 1k for about 30 seconds or it will die, wont idle on its own till what it seems like i set the idle.. then i drive down the road, warm her up and whatnot, go grab some gas and then when i start it again it will hold the rpms around 850 then the rpms and the voltage meter bounce up and down from 300rpm to 1400.. sometimes dying because the rpms drop so low while surging.. again i have no clue, just need a new battery or battery and alternator?

Pull out the MAF sensor from its housing and clean the element GENTLY with a Q-tip soaked in carb cleaner.

5. i bought the car 2 months ago.

I suggest you degrease the engine and add a special UV dye to your engine oil that can be picked up with a black light if it leaks.
Merry Christmas.

1. a throwout bearing usually causes vibration but Ive never had a bad one so maybe it would squeal too idk
3. could be a bad coolant temp sensor
5. bad oil seals

They have Maff cleaner, its sapost to be gentler then carb cleaner. and the sensor it self should never be touched, cuz if that little wire in the sensor breaks, all it will be now is a paper weight...

just spray it out a few times with maff cleaner and let dry

In reference to #2, I just picked up a 94, the previous owner told me about the headlights flickering on/off now and then. Second day I had it they finally did it to me.
I found a badly melted/burnt headlight switch and the wiring connector.
new switch and pigtail and all is good.
