I'm not a huge fan of oil additives and whatnot...but I have never really heard anything bad about Marvel Mystery Oil.
My car was sitting about half a quart low yesterday so I threw in a pint of MMO. Now it says to put a small amount in your gas tank but at high RPMs I get blow-by so it would make its way to the top of the cylinder regardless.
Drove home, no real changes noticed.
Today though, I can tell its doing something. First off, my car usually takes a little longer to crank in the cold. To my surprise it started up right away! Let it idle for a minute and my "rough" idle is a lot less noticeable and just feels smoother. Got down the road a bit and hit W.O.T and I smelt the MMO blow by. The smell was way different than just oil and it lingered a lot longer. The car also smoked a little bit, I'm guessing it was burning all the carbon and gunk in my motor. Got to town bought some groceries and a lotto ticket and headed home. On the way home I got behind a chicken truck..(if you have never smelled a chicken truck, it is about the same odor as a decaying body). To make matters worse it was doing 35mph...Finally got to a spot to pass and this is where things get cool:
Usually when I pass someone I will go W.O.T and get up to about 70-75mph and it will struggle to get up any higher. I will also get the oil burn blow by smell after I pass them...not this time. I slammed my right foot down and got pass the truck. My car felt STRONGER than it ever has. Before I knew it I was doing 90!! My car usually drops off in power right after 4k rpm...on that pass it just kept pulling and pulling and pulling all the way to 5400~. There was also NO blow by smell after I let off the throttle. I am simply baffled. I have used many different additives and such in the past, but this blows them all away by far. Anyone have an experience like this? I have only used seafoam in fuel systems with great results. Any benefits of adding it to the oil next time round?
