Mach 460 question (line converter wiring)
Hey everyone,
I ran RCA's to the trunk, used a line converter to wire them into the harness at the black plugs on the amp. The amps turn on, the subs work, but do not hit. They hit once real well then nothing. My question on the wiring of the line converter, do I have to bridge them (L+, R-, L-,R+) or Straight (L+,L-,R+,R-). |

I thought it was straight but I could be wrong. It sounds like there is something wrong with the ground which is why it would hit once and then stop

I did the same thing as you with a high/low level converter. I tapped into the signal at the rear speakers, so all I had to run was the power wire from the battery. I just wired it in straight left to left and right to right. It works great and I enjoy the clean look of the factory cd player.

Update:
I figured it out. 1) Door speaker leads where backwards. I figured since the blk/lg wire coming off the amp was negative, that the lead to the speaker would be negative. No, no it is not. 2) RCA's to rear amps. Ok so took me forever to find this, asked my cousin who has alldata to look it up. So I am pretty sure, if I remember correctly, you wire the RCA's into the black plug. So if the plug is plugged into the amp and your looking at it, the three wires are on the right side, two on top, one on bottom. Left top is +, Right Top is -, The bottom wire is +5V turn on. Just remember whatever side that the BLK/LG wire is, is the + side for both plugs. 3) Used cheap RCA cables the first time. When I bought the hi-low converter, i used cheap RCA cables with very thin wires when I cut the tips off. Replaced those with a nice set of wires ( =( ) and worked great with out line converter. Not bad at all now. Its super simple to wire in the harness too. You do not need one of those wiring harness if you want to just cut the connectors off from the car side harness. You dont even need a line converter if you run RCA's to the trunk then cut and wire them into the amps. Sounds 1000% better. |
