351W Marine Block

I am getting a 351W Block, the guy said its from a boat. Does it make a difference. I just need the block and will work from there.

Is the marine block will be different from the reg 351W car block?

I'll assume not, but before I get I want to make sure.
Its $100 and the guy said the block have 200hrs on it.

That would be a 351M dont think you want that one. Its not a 351W, its actually based off the 351 cleveland.

Check this link for a little info on it.

actually your wrong

the boat motors ford offered to some companies was a roller block, the same one that was offered in the 1st gen lightning.

Finding a ford 351w boat motor is really tough, b/c they just didnt take off with boat companies, who mostly stuck with 350's and other gm motors

Offer him cheap and see if he knows what he has.

86er.... Thanks for pointing that out. I misread his first post I thought he said it was an M motor. Stang94 disregard my first reply. It is actually possible that he has a 351W.

They guy is not sure what year is the block, how can I tell, if its a roller or not. I know 94 98 are roller block.

I'm almost sure its a non roller, how hard is it to make it a roller?
Can I tell if its an M or W block, by looking for something on it?
It was given to him, and all he knows the Block have 200 hrs on it.

I need help on what to looking for on this block guys. This my first time, I offer him 50, he wanted $100 for it, lets see what happens.
All info of what to look for will be helpful, thanks again.

ford only offered 351w's for boat motors, if you still arent sure, pull the intake, it will say 351 towards the back of the lifter valley.

The boat motor is a lightning motor, sorry its not roller, but its one of the best 351 blocks out there from the factory

Ok, the block is a 92, so thats a non roller, right?
If its a non roller, how much harder will it be, cuz I want a roller block, what is the retrofit thing that I can make it into a roller block?

I am getting it for $50 block and a few other goodies.

Edit: I search and find... someone said 92 and on is a roller, I was told 94 and up is roller.

here's the link, scroll down you will see it there, is this correct...

retro fit kit is cheap and easy to do, just need to drill and tap two holes for the spider tray, and then some light machining of the lifter bores for the roller lifters.

any machine shop worth a shit should be able to handle the roller conversion

I just picked up the block guys, and its cool.

Next step.. to the machine shop. I asked this question before, but I"m ask it again, this will be a summer car, as kind of a daily driver ONLY SUMMER. How much should I bore it over?

And about how much should I expect to pay to bore this block?

PS: It does come with an oil pan also, can I use that, or I have to get a different one?

different pan, fox swap pan kits can be had for 150 for stock quarts, or 250 for up to 7 or 8 quarts

Id just go .030 on the bore.

shops around me charge 100 to bore it

60 to clean it and put cam bearings and freeze plugs in it
