reverse is gone... i have a question or two

ok so i have a '95 5.0 automatic and reverse is completly gone you feel it go into reverse and everything but it just revs up as if it were in neutral. and have come to the conclusion that it needs to be rebuilt which is expensive... but a few people have told me that if i flush the tranny that could free up reverse. what do you guys think? am i stuck with getting it rebuilt or do you think a tranny flush will free it up??

When you flush the transmission check for metal bits in the fluid.

What do you have to lose, if you flush it and it doesnt work you still have to rebuild. On the other hand what if it does work then you are only out maybe 150 bucks.

flushed it with no luck still dont have reverse looks like im gonna have to get it rebuilt....

Sucks dude... mine went two weeks after I bought the car. My situation was similar to yours, except mine was stuck in reverse. Turns out the fork was broken. I had it rebuilt with upgraded parts and another performance clutch.

Look on the bright side... now's the chance to either get a better tranny or just rebuild the original with better internals. Definitely get an upgraded clutch!
