grinding noises?


i have a tremec 3500? in my 95 gt and sometimes when i shift while racing.. it will make a grinding noise.. i no i have the clutch down all the way and sometimes when i power shift.. is this hurting the tranny? its mostly 3rd gear that does this.. thanks for any info

powering shifting is great in a race but not so great on the tranny and grinding noises from a tranny usually arent to good either...

well ive been told.. that tremec 3500 is pretty tough and it can take a lot.. so i dont no, is there any way i can check or tell if it is damaged? or will i just have to get the whole tranny looked at?

well im no expert but you could change the oil and see if there are any metal shavings in the oil that would show signs of gears being worn excessively or go to a tranny shop they can tell you probably just by driving the car if they know what they are talking about, just don't let them rip you off.

Might be a clutch going. Especially if its all the way in when shifting. At least thats the cheap answer. Only other way to tell is tearing into the trani. So you pick the answer that you can afford. And dont power shift, your talking at most .2 off the quarter. I dont think that is worth a trani.
