Re: Water Temperature
I tried to determine the actual coolant temp. at various points on my gauge by taking resistance readings across the wires going to the ECT. By extrapolating the temp. from the resistance (in ohms) I was able to determine that: Low speed fan on = Needle on M of NORMAL = 208*F Low speed fan off = Needle between O and R of NORMAL = 198*F Therefore the middle (between R and M) equals 205*F and each letter adds or takes away 7*F: Needle just below N = 184*F Needle between N and O = 191*F Needle between O and R = 198*F Needle between R and M = 205*F Needle between M and A = 212*F Needle between A and L = 219*F Needle just above L = 226*F The stock thermostat opening temp. is 192*F. In a cool climate, the gauge should sit at or around the t'stat opening temp. during a highway cruise, so that's between N and O. In hotter climates the gauge will read higher but still shouldn't be above halfway unless conditions are extreme and you've got the AC on.

For those who like metric units, the conversion will be as follows:
Needle just below N = 84*C Needle between N and O = 88*C Needle between O and R = 92*C Needle between R and M = 96*C Needle between M and A = 100*C Needle between A and L = 104*C Needle just above L = 108*C |
