air pump

I have a squeek in the air pump pulley and waswondering if I should just get rid of it all together? Will it trigger a check engine light? Does it damage the engine not having it? Please help me since this squeel is driving me crazy.

Remove the smog pump assembly altogether. It'll save you 10lb and a lot of underhood space. Just remember to plug the vacuum line (I think it's green) and the pipes coming off the backs of the cylinder heads.
The only downside is that the cats could overheat because there'll be no smog pump to pump cooling air to them, but that'll be a good excuse to get rid of the cats as well.
