Have a couple ?'s about head swap and 347 budget build
Hey all! New here and i just bought my first mustang today. I've already priced a kit with eagle for a 347 stroker and plan on doing the swap over the winter. I have about a decent, yet modest budget and would like to make my '95 GT 5.0, a quick street car. The car is bone stock other than a .373 gear, Flowmaster 40 series, and a Ford motor sports E-cam. I went ahead today and bought a set of BBK equal length shortie headers, Mac underdrive pullies and a B&M shot throw shifter. Now with my basic setup stated here are my questions..
1. What options do i have as far as heads/intake? I'm really not wanting to buy a $800 set of heads. Is there any other options i have, possibly a cobra intake/heads? If so is it direct swap or any special mod's/parts needed to make it work right? I have also seen Gt-40 heads on ebay. Is that a better intake/head system than the stock GT's setup? What vehicle can i get these from if so? 2. As far as throttle body and injectors, a little research yielded that a 70mm intake and 24lb injectors should be sufficient for the 347. Can anybody running the same set up verify that setup or have any suggestions? 3. Any other ways to free up horsepower? Any restrictions in the motor that i should address while it's apart or anything like that? Possibly a lighter flywheel and drive shaft perhaps?.. |

Anyways thanks for any help provided. I've been a long time gear head with atv's and just recently decided to build a car. I was really into drag racing 4wheelers before this mustang. I've parted out my drag banshee to pay for this car project. Anyways here is a pic of my last project/hobby.. Best i ever got it was 7.03 at 97mph in the 1/8th. Any other banshee guys on the board??

I am doing the coast 347 stroker....dont know if the heads you mentioned will flow enough for what you are doing ....as for myself I am doing the trick flow top end kit heads cam intake and rollers....70-75 mm tb and 75-80 MAF....I am going with 30 lb injectors and a 255 lph fuel pump and adjustable pressure reg. from what I hear this setup should be the SHIT. I am also upgrading my AODE with kevlar bands, valve body, shift kit and 2800 stall..I am ordering all of this tomorrow or the next day but wont have it here in mexico for a couple of weeks when my buddy gets here so not sure when you are wanting to do yours but i will keep you posted and let you know how it works....my car is also mexican and the block will handle a little more HP than a US block from what I understand

Mine will be a winter build. I'm in no hurry i'm going to take my time with it. I think i enjoy tinkering with them as much as driving them. I'm still trying to come up with a list of everything thats a must, so if anybody has any tip's or info i'd love to hear it.
Thanks, Jeremy |
