Exhaust Mid Pipe

I just got purchased my 95 mustang gt, and i love it. So far it has a MAC catback exhaust, steeda tri-ax shifter, and eibach lowering springs. I want to go with a BBK Offroad Pipe. But I have a couple of questions. What are the pros and cons of the h vs x pipe? I have also been looking at pipes saying for shorties or long tubes. I'm going to keep the stock headers on there for now and go with long tubes in the future. I am asking because I've noticed that they pipes say for shorties or long tubes. So would the mid pipe that says for long tubes, fit on my stock headers?

Thanks for the help!

no it will not fit your stock exhaust manifolds which is what they are.....its because the stockers and the shorties take a longer section of pipe cause they dont come down as far as the long tubes....i would just leave what you have for now and do some other mods....start saving for intakes or heads.

Why not just get a MAC midpipe? You would know it would fit for sure...Ever heard the Pro Chamber? It sounds amazing to me...I got Mac lontubes, Mac o/r H, and Flow 40s dumped, sounds great to me.

+1 for the Prochamber, that thing does sound awesome. And upgrading your exhaust is a good place to start, so dont listen to other goof balls who say "save up for other things first." Usually, the first thing you SHOULD look into modifying is the basic "bolt-ons" and replacement parts. Seeings as you have stock exhaust manifolds, get the midpipe thats meant for shorties (if you cant afford long tubes now) Or, if you can spend the money now, just buy the long tubes, and get the midpipe for long tubes... Its up to you.

As long as you get the one thats specified for the shortie headers, it will fit the stock manifolds. Your welcome.

goof balls well if you would learn how to read he already has exhaust and what I said is why order a fucking pipe that wont fit untill he gets headers unless you want to weld on pipes to them....he said he has stock "headers" that means EXHAUST MANIFOLDS and a h pipe mad for long tubes will obviously be too short and he said he wants to do long tubes in the long run so I am obviously the goof ball because I would get long tubes and then the h pipe to fit instead of being as smart as you and buying an h pipe made for long tubes and welding on tubes to make it reach the stock manifolds and then later get headers and butcher up the pipes some more to make them fit....sorry for my stupidity oh master of the obvious

I'll answer each of your questions in turn:

1. H-pipe v X-pipe. I've read that an H-pipe sounds better with chambered mufflers while an X-pipe sounds better with straight-through mufflers. Since the MAC mufflers are chambered-type mufflers similar to the Flowmaster, I suggest you go for an H-pipe. The question is which one so I'll answer that one next.

2. I suggest you don't buy an H-pipe until you've decided which headers you're buying. Shorty (or stock) headers will require a longer H-pipe, whereas long tube headers will require a shorter H-pipe. MAC have both shorty and long tube headers, and also have longer or shorter H-pipes to go behind each of them respectively. An H-pipe for long tubes is too short to fit behind shorty or stock headers.

AMEN....and upgrading your exhaust right now is pretty much all for sound unless you are going to remove your cats. With a stock motor the exhaust you have breathes about as good as it can....untill you upgrade more things on your motor the little bit that h or x pipe frees up is not going to be a noticeable gain....you want a real kick in the ass for about the same money go with gears you WILL feel that
