Auto or 5-Speed?
I just scored on a slightly wrecked 95, special 35th aniversory mustang with a built 331 stroker 5-speed, etc..the question is, I have a 95 GT convertible with an automatic (recently rebuilt) should I keep the auto, and bolt it up to the stroker, or switch it out completely with the five-speed? I'll have to install the clutch pedals, etc..as well, so I know thats a lot of work compared to just pulling the engine, in the alternative, I could fix the 35th aniversary stang for about $1300..not sure how special a 35th aniversary hardtop is..I'm kind of new to this, so trying to get an idea...Thanks

save alot of headaches to just build up the wrecker for 1300 bucks. then you have 2, a dd vert and a bad ass 5speed for fun.

If you ever plan to take a corner, 'verts suck.
Of course, so do wreckers, as you never know if the frame is straight. That being said, do you want the automatic? Or is it just less work? What would you rahter have if someone else was doing all the work for you?

I am all for automatics bro most people on this site will say 5 speed but everything I have seen I have never seen a 5 speed built to handle 700-1000 HP and dan (silverfox) at click click racing builds the AOD's and AODE's to handle that most drag cars are auto's but depends on you.....I spent about 1500 bucks to get my aode to handle more HP than I will ever have on stock block and a 2800 stall with 3:73's and a cam set up for that should hit as hard or better than any manual and hold up better in my opinion but I am no pro...

Here's a clip to the Ebay site, so you can check out the 35th Aniversary model, and yes its a 95...after calling the shop, I found that this stroker is 350HP with 400lbs of TQ, do you think the stock auto tranny in my GT can handle this? Yes, its a matter of work, but like 95stangMX said, most of your highoutput stangs are running auto's, granted their not stock like my GT-convertible...as to the frame on this, its not bent...and yes, I got a smokin deal...The bottom line is, for what I got this for, I was just going to pull the motor and stick it in my GT convertible, but then I thought, maybe I'll convert to a 5-speed, then like superman5.0 said, maybe I'll just fix it, but to be honest, I cant afford another car...are these aniversory editions worth anything? Thanks for your responses..

1995 was the 31st anniversary of the Mustang, not the 35th, you're getting taken by somebody.

94cobra320 can you see the pic of the guages? It does read 35th aniversary, not 31st, theres also a lot of upgrades in the interior of which theres no pictures, such as metal powr switches, etc..anyway, so far I have one person who says rebuild the car, and one person who says stay with the auto, and no one suggesting retrofitting the car...and as to my other questions, none answered, but there seems to be a lot of interest in pics, so there they are...

JFYI, that 35th anniv... cluster is either from a 99 or its aftermarket. Like was said earlier the 99 model was the 35th anniv...
As far as what to do with it, thats up to you, replace body panels and paint or swap the motor in to the vert.

im gonna call shananigans on it being a 331 also. cause who here has heard of someone leaving the stock intake on a 331? at least it looks stock. also the radiator is stock, stock radiators hardly keep the stock engine cool in these things. dude you got ripped big. if you didnt buy it already then dont. it has suspension and some flashy wheels with a 5 speed. anyone else seeing what im seeing or am i seeing things?
edit: looked at it again, and yes big time shananigans, those are even stock headers. oh wait i think i see an msd coil, theres an engine upgrade....

Shanigans?
I actually called the shop that did the work on this car, and they showed me the invoice of the blueprinted and balanced stroker kit that went in on this...so I'm not to concerned, especially since the shop is reputible in the Las Vegas community and has no reason to lie...so do you still think I got ripped? $1200 for a stroker, along with the car, brembo brakes, cross drilled rotors..etc...Anyway, you guys are way off point, and only two of you have actually answered my questions...This site sucks for any substantive infor except for a couple of guys who are actually responding to the question....

![]() Everyone here has a different opinion on 5sp or auto, so all you will get is opinion. Which one you what to do depends on what you are looking for from each car! How much work you are willing to do, and how much money you are willing to spend on each? Until you tell us these things all you will get is someones opinion. If it were mine I would leave the stroker in the hardtop and fix the body damage. Like someone said previously, you will have a stroked 5sp hardtop and an AOD daily driver vert.

I agree with 95opal .... I Have destroyed a stock 5 speed as soon as I bolted on a few horses of Nitrous on a 306, 433 hp / 490 torque. I stepped up the 5 speed to a TKO 500 when I put the 347 stroker in it and have not broken it yet. But the cost of the tranny and the aftermarket bellhousing to get it to fit in a 95 was 3 times what it would cost you to fix yours..... I would just fix it, IF you can't afford both... but you want the motor....then, yank it apart and measure the pistons before taking a good car with no problems apart...

From what i've heard, Auto's are best for drag racing, yet if you like twisties, then go for the 5 speed.

Personally man I'd get the hard top fixed and sell the vert (since you say you cant afford both...). The car like said wont be worth more than the vert since its been wrecked and isnt the 35th anniv. like ya thought but all in all it would be the car to keep in my oppinion. And if ya really want an auto hooked up to that motor then just pull the 5spd. and replace it with an auto. Hell of a lot easier than making the vert 5spd. if ya ask me and even then ya still got the hard top which is better all around cuz the bodies stiffer.
Help any?
