well, the first thing you gotta do before anything is beef up your suspension, because without traction, YOU AIN'T GOIN' NOWHERE. So i would recommend some upper and lower rear control arms, maybe some subframe connectors, a panhard bar, and swaybars or something to get you going. Then maybe a new ignition, because i have heard of people finding power that way, and play with the timing a little, you could pick up some easy hp with that. And finally, go get it dyno tuned. Not just dyno'd but TUNED. Because if you have a good tuner who can burn you a chip, it not only can gain you power but it can be SMOOTHER too, which really does help. Other than that maybe heads and a stroker kit.

Don't be afraid of the bottle !!!!
I ran 150 dry shot on a 95 gt with 140k on the stock engine( ok, cold air only ). Abused it for 2 years and had no issues . You can even ping the engine with a dry kit to find the exact timing without worry of damage unlike with a wet kit. But I agree with 94cobra320...Dyno Tune is the way to go, just expensive...

In my personal oppinion I would go with a stroker kit and stay away from nitrous. I have a 95 vert with a 347 stroker and I love the hell out of it. It is really your choice but, I think that nitrous is cheaters gas. You cant make real power so you have to feed it an energy drink.

I would say go next for a camshaft & intake.. ignition? maybe MSD billet distributor, blaster coil & 6AL box, if you like.
Intake: Lots of 'em in the market for stock EFI motors: Edelbrock Performer 5.0 - or Performer RPM for strokers & nitrous, TFS EFI Street Heat - or Track Heat for strokers & nitrous, and the famous Holley Systemax II. If budget is an issue, get Explorer intake that flows better than Saleen - check this link: AFM: Explorer Intake Install Check out those long runners on the upper manifold of Explorer intake. This WILL give you a huge increase in the low end torque that will shred your tires with those 3.73's you got! The lower intake is a Cobra GT40. Camshaft: Ford Racing E303 is the most popular camsahft for stock motors, I also like TrickFlowSpecialties Stage 1 camshaft for 302 SBF. Edelbrock got one too, that goes with their intake & head combo. And you will need a 70 mm TB with the above. Now you can beef up your chassis & suspension. |

You dont have to appologize I am happy to answer your questions, First off for hp and torque, I am making 289.32 hp and 338.36 ft/lbs at the rear wheels. Keep in mind that this is at 6000 feet above sea level and it is all motor. Yes I am still running fuel injection. I have a custom cam for a blower, which I dont have one at the moment. I have a Trickflow Track Heat Upper and Lower Intake, Trickflow Twisted Wedge Heads, the stroker kit was bought from Coast High Performance, the website is www.coasthigh.com. I had my builder assemble and do the machine work. The engine costed me around 5,200 for a long block, but it is a Dart Block with machine work, rotating assembly, and heads. My dyno guy thought that with a vortech s trim system it would make around 550hp and 700ft/lbs at the wheels. What I am getting at is if you have a solid foundation, it is easy to make lots of power down the road. I hope I was helpful.

For a prepped Dart block with TFS heads & intake plus forged CHP 347 kit, $5200 is a very good price, but I think you should be making more power with that spectacular combo.. something around 380 rwhp, dont you think?

Well I thought so to, but I was thinking it is because of the custom cam being set up for a blower, I could be wrong.

I thought so.
Cam selection makes huge differences. In my case, I was using a N/A cam in a blower application, and it was a disaster. Had to work it out all over again, and it's going in progress. |
