Flywheel?
I have a 1995 Mustang GT 5.0 HO with a t-5 tranny. I just bought my centerforce clutch and steeda tri-ax shifter. I'm going a complete clutch overhaul with a clutch cable quadrant, new clutch, shifter, and flywheel. I need to know what the best flywheel is for street/strip leaning more towards strip though because its not my DD.

I love my fidanza aluminum flywheel. I found one from amp performance for 277.00 and called Summit up and they beat their price. It comes with the 50oz and 28oz weight. If you don't have the funds a billet steel one is good too and much cheaper. Make sure you change the rear main seal while your at it, and apply gray rtv sealant to the flywheel bolts when you're re-installing them.

whats the difference in the way the car reacts with aluminum versus steel flywheels?? I'm building it for the 1/4 mile mostly but still be able to drive it to the track.

Aluminum flywheels are nice. The engine will be more responsive and the car will accelerate quicker. I've used a couple of these now and swear by them.

The difference is night and day. Just as Darrell said, the engine will be more responsive (better and snappier throttle response) and it will accelerate through the RPMs faster (obviously allowing the car to accelerate faster). You'll notice the difference, and you'll never want to go back to a steel flywheel ever again.

are there any drawbacks to having an aluminum flywheel and which aluminum one is the best? What about imbalance, does 28 oz or 50 oz matter and what do i need for a stock 1995 5.0 HO? Thanks

Yup, you'll need to use the 50oz weight that comes with the flywheel...157 tooth as already mentioned. There is quite a bit of weight difference too. I think my fidanza was around 11lbs lighter than the stocker. Fidanza is the best IMO, I've had it on a couple different cars and haven't had any bad luck with them.

Thanks, I've kept it all stock on the outside. I dont see too many green ones. I believe in go before show. I'll make that car a 12 second car before I do anything to the appearance. and i really appreciate all the imput on the flywheels. I'm gonna order me a 157 tooth 50oz fidanza aluminum flywheel. that should pair up nicely with my centerforce dual friction clutch, rebuilt t-5, steeda tri-ax, and steeda clutch cable quadrant! Thanks for all the help guys

Thanks man! My friend and I painted it in his garage over the course of 3 days. 3 LONG days...LOL It's competition orange with copper pearl flake, sonic blue in the tips of the flames, and factory black. I just couldn't put anything but ford colors on the car...LOL
