Upgrade Questions
I bought a 95 svt cobra earlier this year and I'm ready to do make some more power. He's the stuff it has so far.
Fresh 2 tone paint, but that doesn't make it go faster 96 Cobra hood Cobra R wheels 70 mm Edelbrock throttle body K&N filter King cobra clutch H-pipe with cats, and Dynomax mufflers I want to do a few more things, got some ideas, but let me know if you have anymore. Do alot of highway driving so don't plan on changing gears. Thought about UD pulleys, couple questions. Are they just lighter because say they are aluminum, or are some of them different sizes, and they boost power from this. If they are different than the original in size will it have adverse effects say on the alternator making power ot the power steering, etc... Also thought about headers, short or long i don't know, brand? Don't want to have problems with leaks, and don't want some that will start rusting ofter 6 months. No cats H or X pipe, i guess this has to match up with the type header you have long or short. On the H-pipe, are there O2 sensors behind the cats, so will I have problems with check engine lights, if there are no cats? Whats the largest diameter exhaust that would be good for my setup? 2.25", 2.5", bigger? Thought about a supercharger or a turbo one day don't know if I want to drop the $. Which one is better for a street car, with the every once in a while trip to the strip. Has to be reliable, most bang for the buck. Any other ideas? Comments? thanks brad[DSCF0273.JPG] |

as for the pulleys... they are differents sizes, thus underdrive. when the alternator pulley is used the lights normally dim somewhat at idle. i have bbk pulleys and my cooling is not affected.
i would get long tubes with a matching x pipe (personal preference) and you can buy the headers coated. use 2.5" exhaust u should not have any problems with the o2 sensors...they might be moved farther backwards w/ the long tubes...not sure

I have the a set of long tube headers on my 95 5.0 and yes it does move the o2 sensor back some, you will need to buy extensions for them. they will be like $40-$50. but the long tube headers I would go with I love them. Great sound little better performance and they dont cost that much more.

Also I eliminated the back to o2 sensors. just keep the first two. I have long tube headers BBK. into X pipe in to Flowmaster 40 series, and dump at the ground before the rear end, and sounds awsome.

headers
on the long tube headers, do they hang low? live in a apartment with speed bumps. currently if I hit them without being really careful, the cats bump slightly. where do you by the extensions for the O2's, or if you want to eliminate them where do you buy that? I've used the casper electronics ones from summit before on a yukon and they worked great, maybe they have them for mustangs.
thanks |

I only eliminated the back two. I kept the front two i heard you will have problems with getting ride of the front 2. You can call Dallasmustangs.com they would know. and I just use zip ties to keep them up.
