Engine harness swap question.
This is a question for all my 'across the pond' friends!
I have a 94-95 5.0 project engine which I hope to drop into my AC Cobra kit car when completed. So far so good. However, I had no engine electrical components at all and therefore went and bought a brand new Ford Racing engine/injector harness, ECU harness etc, thinking, erroneously, it would be compatible with my engine. It appears at the very least that the distibutor connections are different and also the TPS connection? I don't have Air Conditioning pump or Power steering pump, just a simple engine set up. Can anybody who has a good knowledge of all things electrical, give me their advice on how I could adapt what I have to make it fit? Many thanks Gary (Sunny England, UK) |

If you are using a fox (87-93) dizzy then I can see your problem, the harness from a 94-95 is different than the Fox body components. What year are the motor components from and what year harness did you purchase? Also what ecu are you going to be using?

I believe it is posible, but look at this option>
Painless PERFECT Engine Management System - Ford 5.0L (94-95) also there is alot of good info on 5.0 efi here> Ford Fuel Injection they also have a huge selection of pigtails and other custom wiring parts to make things work |

Thanks guys for your help and advise.
I have all the 94-95 ancillaries, ie; throttle body/elbow, IAC and TPS, so the distributor is also a 94-95 item. Unfortunately I have realised that the Ford Racing 3 part harness I bought was a 89-93 year production harness and some of the connectors aren't compatible with the components on my engine. I wondered if there was a way round it? The Painless harness appears to be good, however it doesn't appear to be heat wrapped and I have already paid alot of money for the Ford items I have. All advise appreciated! Regards Gary |

find the old connecters... cut off the new ones.. wire in the old connectors on the new harness... simple as that...
