I had a 93' probe that needed a rekeyed fob, and it said something about locating a control box in the trunk. I never found it. I just brought it to a dealership, and paid them to program it. I was there when they did it, and all they did was cycle through the on/acc with the key a certain amount of times, then hit any button on the fob. For some reason, that didn't work for them, so then they spent about 1/2 hour programming it somehow, I didn't see that part. It cost me $50 to get it done.

you could probably just buy a new system all together and put it in yourself. if your like everyone else, you hate dealerships. put that 50 bucks towards a new unit

Keyless entry is the keypad on the door. Ford factory key fob is Remote Keyless Entry, or RKE. Big fat key and nothing else is PATS, or Passive Anti-Theft System. Most Ford Dealers will do a fob reprogram for $27.50, unless it's gone up, and usually takes about a half-hour with the IDS. There is a way to do it solely by cycling the key in the ignition, but I've forgot.

My old 94 V6 had keyless entry, with a remote, Is that something that came with the after market alarm or would it have had it factory.?
I am in the process of buying a 94 gt that has power locks.. and I was curious
as to if this car would have had leyless.. ???

There was no aftermarket alarm installed from the factory. It's all factory Ford. It's possible that something could have been installed at the dealership when the car was new. You can get power locks and windows and not have any anti-theft system, but that's rare. Power locks and windows were standard, but the anti-theft parts were optional back then, and I believe they were only standard on the GT/Cobra. One surefire way of telling is to look for a functioning "THEFT" light on the gauge cluster.

Sometimes with the older Fords, you'll want to lock the locks with the door open and then shut it. The theft light should come on solid for a little bit and then start flashing, provided you have a factory alarm on the car. Another way to check is to look for a factory hood pin. There were also a lot of alarms installed at the dealership like fairlane said, they are made by code-alarm and say "ford" right on them... they are probably the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen, if you have one of those, remove it immediately!

Damn...I forgot about those.

And you're right about the CodeAlarm...had an Expedition go into lockdown for three days over a stupid malfunctioning alarm system. Wouldn't let anyone near the damn thing until the battery finally died.

If you or somone you love has one of these alarms, rip it out, smother it in gasoline, burn it like the heathen kings of old, and throw the ashes into the sea so that it can do no one else harm.

my advice would be to toss the whole 460 stereo too........

i put in a sony xplode head unit & all new kenwood speakers in the doors & back panel & then threw in 2 10's... sounds way better than the 460 ever did & now the music comes out of all the speakers ALL THE TIME instead of every now & then with bad distortion due to the MACH 460 amps going out..... if you like music get rid of the 460!!!!!!!

(didn't mean to jack the thread but i just had to say it!)

I'm pretty sure mine has flows installed, and from what i've heard they drone bad at 2500, I guess I'll see how it sounds.. I am so looking forward to getting
it home so I can go for a nice cruise.. ....

the flows might drone a little bit especially when your windows are up, but hey we buy em for a reason, right?!

mine isn't too bad, but like i said after about the 2nd hour of driving @ 80MPH i gotta have my music going to wash the exhaust tone out a little!!
