needs windshield
needs r/f fender will fix prior but wont paint it
i was going to make it a street/strip but need to pay

i would get the parts it needs to fix up stuff. he claims to have a folder full of dated recipts for this car and the 302 was recently rebuilt along with the tranny. he was going to drop in a 600hp supercharged stroker motor but never got the time he is also selling the motor separately

I'd have to hear it run before I paid $1500 for it. If I buy a car that doesn't run, I won't pay more than $900, regardless of the condition. That's just my own rule. If it runs and drives, it's worth at least a grand to me. $1500 is a good deal for a Mustang GT, but for one that doesn't run, and has probably been beat to hell, and from the looks of it, it has, he'd have to justify the price tag.

this could definitely go both ways. you could be getting a good deal on a GT with minimal $$$ invested to get it completely road worthy, or you could be buying a total piece of junk. i'd say his price is right IF it in fact only is the fuel pump keeping it from running, but anymore a man's word just isn't enough, even if he is offering that notarized piece of paper. look it over thoroughly, see if he really does have receipts for his past work, and go from there. definitely don't just jump into it because its a v-8 mustang, do some homework and keep looking if this looks fishy to you. from the pictures it looks like its really been beat to hell, so just keep all of that in mind.

it does look like it has been beat. i will definitely look it over but im sure it cant be any worse than the 82 Firebird i just got rid of. It does run. He said it will idle fine and you can drive it just not more than 20mph. I definetly wont take his word on new stuff unless it absolutely looks new or he has a receipt for it. If this one doesnt work out im looking at a 89 firebird 305 5 speed or a 91 mustang notch 4-cyl conversion 302 5 speed

well if he's saying the fuel pump is bad, i don't even think the car will start...that has been my experience anyways. if it runs, i think the problem is elsewhere...somebody please correct me if i'm wrong, because i don't want to give him bad info - when i had a bad fuel pump, the car just cranked and cranked and wouldn't ever fire.

You could always pull the intake tube off and spray some ether in, it will fire for a few seconds, you could do this to at least get a glimpse into hearing it run.

I say, if that works, get it, install a fuel pump, spray black primer on it, install a nitrous kit, and have a beater strip car for a decent price.

Not ether. Carb/intake cleaner yes, but never ether.

Here is something you need to ask yourself ....If its just a fuel pump and he is a mechanic then why the HELL would he not fix it before trying to sell the car....its easy to do and cheap...I mean in my book it would be a lot easier to sell that car running than not running.... I agree with whoever said if you are looking for a project to do then yeah do it.....but if you are looking for a cheap way to get a mustang to drive while you are hoping and dreaming to redo it I would keep looking....How is the interior? I would say its not a bad deal for a project but dont kid yourself its gonna take some money and time to get it driveable....

take those reciepts and everything he said he did and everything he said he was going to do it throw it out the window....none of that matters...it doesnt make the car worth more....he had the motor rebuilt....thats not always a good thing was it rebuilt right?....the car I just bought the guy told me it had a rebuilt transmission ....it was the first thing to go about a week later...but I wasnt upset I bought the car for a project...I know several mechanics and their cars are always taken care of the worst....they work on other peoples cars all day long so the last thing they want to do is work on theirs...and when they do they usually just put a bandaid on the problem to fix it temp until they get around to doing it the right way
