I have a buddy that is going to sell me a bottom end the a 351W [doesn't know what year] for $150; it has the oil pan, timing cover and of coarse the crank, cam and pistons. I just don't know if I should or not, Don't really know what the go for but I figure that 150 bucks can't be a bad deal. I am needing to know if the upper parts to a 302 are the same as the 351 and are interchangeable or not.

The heads are similar but the bolt holes need to be drilled out to the 1/2" 351W size. The intakes are different. Don't expect any gains over a 302 HO with a stock 351W. A stock 351 is a turd and its heavy.

Use the money it would cost you to do the swap to buy some heads....150 for the block at least a couple hundred on machine work....odds and ends figure minimum 100 bucks thats almost 500 bucks without any wrench time which I would say probably another 500 on that....so thats 500-1000 you could spend on some heads
