I am doing flows cat back.. Cause I love the deep rumble of it.. and a set of HF Cats.. I have looked at vids on you tube.. but they aren't in person.. *Sigh* IDK what to do? I need input guys.. And Any vids you think would help.. does anyone have a vid with the setup I want? I want that deep rumble that made me want a 5.0L to begin with? LOL.. So dicuss on please.. Also should I go with a new set of headers. do they really make that much of a diff is proformance or sound? Any input is appriciated guys.. Thanks.. |

I've had both and prefer the h-pipe over the x-pipe for sound reasons, the difference in power is going to be negligible, especially on an otherwise stock car. I also would go with magnaflows over flowmasters.

soundclip of mine is in this thread What I did over the past few weekends...Pics inside! It's a UPR X-pipe and flowmaster cat-back. I'd go with spintechs if I had it to do over again though.

the sound probably isn't the greatest online, but i have mac headers, mac h-pipe, and flowmaster cat-back. if you can't tell from the clip, the car sounds nasty. i wouldn't change the way it sounds for the world - you can still talk in the car without screaming at cruising speeds, but when you hit the go pedal its a loud symphony.

I just finished putting MAC longtubes with a MAC o/r h-pipe on into my Flowmaster 40's... it sounds NASTY!!!! I don't have a video cam, but if I can find someone who does, I will post a vid. The only way to make headers worth it IMO is if you do long tubes. Shorties are a waste of time. The long tubes opened my car up and is SO much louder than it was. I love it! I've also had both x and h pipes and I prefer the h as well. It is a slightly deeper rumble compared to a slightly raspier poppy sound from the x.

flamedstang it not hardly fair to post that sound clip for exhaust, he forgot to mention the 347, heads, and custom cam making it sound a little different from a normal mustang with flows....LOL

if it was your exhaust that made the car sound like that I think just about everyone on this site would be running the same setup....lol..

personally i had the same problem. i put flows on with an H-Pipe and i wasnt satisfied. so i cut the exhaust off after the mufflers and it gave it a nice sound at high RPMs but not at low and to make along storyt short i hacked the mufflers off all together and i am more tsatisfied with the sound. u should try that. its the cheapest although not most environment friendly and u get a beautiful tone out of it

You dont need backpressure but it can take away from your torque if your motor is basically stock. I wouldnt recomend doing it on a stock motor its not going to hurt the motor but it probably will not perform as well

doesnt it pop a lot when you rev it and then back out? I cant stand when they do that especially since performance shops are like not here at all so every guy that owns a mustang and has watched gone in 60 seconds or fast and furious goes out and hacks off his mufflers.
