Question

H-pipe Install

Hey guys,

Just a quick. I just got some new headers and o/r H-Pipe. What did you guys do with that tube that feeds back up towards the Smog pump? The o/r H-Pipe doesn't have a place for it. Looking to install the headers and o/r pipe this week.......

Thanks........

Your right. I just looked at the pic and it's there. I'll just take it to a muffler shop and have it welded closed since i'm deleting the smog pump. Thanks...............

Mine didn't come with one either. I chopped one off an old set of cats and welded it on the new x-pipe. I've since deleted the smog to so it's crimped off. If you don't completely remove the smog pump at least cap the hole off on the pump.

If your not gonna use the smog pump, remove it. It will lock up and trash your belt.

I removed the smog pump and all hoses, and the pipe on the back of the heads today. It was really easy using a thread posted here. My headers are coming tomorrow with my new H-Pipe.......... I'm excited to hear how it sounds since i bought it with an exhaust leak and probably original 14 year old cat's. The exhaust from the H-Pipe back was done by the previous owner about 6 months ago so it's all new.

you can delete the smog pump... just make sure you take it out completely and get a shorter belt. or you can leave it in... along with the pipe that runs down by the header. if you leave the pump in, you don't need to plug that pipe into the h-pipe. just tie it up, but DO NOT plug the hole because the smog pump needs to breathe... otherwise it will burn up and destroy your belt.

If all of you still have an operating smog pump after 13-14 yrs of use I'd be surprised. You may think it's working, but, highly unlikely.
