hey man I live in St. Marys too... where are you? sorry thread hijak over.... i would recommend getting an off road h-pipe or x-pipe (that means it has no cats) to replace your stock mid pipe. If you have to pass emissions in your area then I would look at getting a mid pipe with high flow cats on them. or you could, like you were asking, just punch out the cats (which is the cheap ass way to do it), but it may not sound that good. sometimes it can be a bit too raspy and rattly. so i would just look at getting a new mid pipe

so great suggestions but my 94 stang has 4 cats and research i have done says if i take out the 2 main cats(the ones u can see when u look under the car) u can gain a bit horse power but loose tq but it will sound closer to a v8... im wondering if i take out the 2 extra cats that are the closets to the headrers these cats u cant see and if a cop were to look under the car he would see the 2 stock and not the ones i cut..so even taken out the extra cats would help????

why not just buy an aftermarket offroad midpipe? it's not too hard to install yourself and will sound a lot better than if you cut off your cats

uhmm you loose no torque when u go with offroad pipes.
breathes better. flows better with chambered muffler./ stright through bullet deisign now catted is nice.. but no.. u got a v8.. its gonan sound like a v8.. go off road h mid pipe THE END! no more questions |

if you dont have to worry about emissions i would go with off road h no cats. thats what i got with the same flows and it i think it sounds really good. i would look on youtube and compare, everyone is different and you may like one over the other.

Yeah if you have a lift, air tools and a helper. If you're doing it by yourself in the driveway with the car on ramps or stands it's going to take longer than 10 min.

actually it will drop your torque unless you are running a chambered muffler to give it a little back pressure unless you are over I think 400 HP you will loose torque if you dont have some backpressure like the guy above me just stated ripping off the mufflers.

yea, the stocker is pretty restrictive due to the bends and such,. just cutting out the cats will not do much of anything exhaust except make it sound funny

i'd definitely just get an aftermarket pipe. plus if you tried to hollow out your cats, you could miss some pieces and end up with your exhaust sounding like popcorn...and the extra chunks clogging up your mufflers.
