the only thing I can think of is maybe the filter housing is a 1999/2000 Windsor which was a different part then the 1998 back Romeos

well, again, I've seen more that a few issues wth the oil filter housings hitting the frame and the problems were usually from an aftermarket "K" member installed in the car, use of a Windsor oil filter housing, or both the above....other than that the only other thing that comes to mind is an engine mount issue as mentioned above and maybe check your trans mount and X-member too for being off....

YUP...the K-Member is the same from 94 on up. My '97 has a '95 Cobra K-member in it, and it's the same thing. Check to make sure the engine is sitting level. If you know the motor mounts are new (or from hard launches and driving like an idiot), it's possible the engine has settled incorrectly. Just loosen the motor mounts and the transmission mount, and level them out. The sure way of telling is by looking at and comparing the nuts that secure the motor mounts to the chassis. If one's higher or lower than the other, there's your problem!
