oil filter relocation

okay i am having problems with my oil filter. i have a 96gt with a 97gt motor. The oil filter will not screw in straight because the k member is in the way.

I think my only options would be to get a oil filter relocation kit. What do you guys think? The only relocation kits i can find are on mustangsunlimited.com is there anyone else that has them?

........or you can buy a shorter version of the FL-820-S oil filter, iirc the Motorcraft part # is a FL-757

as far as I know it is and I've sold quite a few to customers wth similar problems of the filter hitting the "K" member, it is a FL-757 and iirc, it's @2" shorter than the standard FL-820-S

now, not sure why your having issues as a 1996 thru 1998 engines, oil filter housings and K members are All the same...

alright ill give it a shot. you sure its safe to run a smaller filter?

yup, now being the filter media is less, you might have to change it more often, but other than that, you'll be fine....

if he changes his filter everytime he changes his oil like your supposed to, he should have no issues using a shorter filter....

your motor mounts are shot... i have heard of it happining where the motor mount is allowing the eninge to sit lower and the Oil filter will not fit with the K member in the way... put some solids in there!!

no they are brand new mounts. i know for sure this engine is diff from the orig and the company i bought it from said the motor was out of a 97 and there are some small differences between 96-98

tlel me one difference in the actual engine... only difference is the fuel rail on the 98...

why can u use a tuner on 97 and 98 but not 96..?

that is computer issues... and diablo is the only tuner that wont work with the early OBD II ports... SCT will work...

97 and 96 aren't compatible with the diablo tuner, while the 98 is

I know thats what I thought too. I think its the fact that I have a 97 engine in my 96. Yeah somethings deff wrong lol
