Differential Covers - I need your guys' opinions...

Worth 200 bucks? I'm having difficulties deciding on this one. But come on, gotta admit that Roush logo is pretty good lookin'.

Or this one here's by TA Performance for around 75 less than Roush's.

Now I'm sure a lot of you are thinking these cost waaay too much for such little (if any) performance gain... but since I need to get my 4.10's in, why not top it all of with a nice polished aluminum girdle? Also, both models are basically the same damn thing... they both are aluminum, and they both hold an additional 1/2 qt. of oil to keep temperatures lower. Not to mention that they come with a drain plug - dumbass Ford didn't think that'd be necessary and thus left no drain plug on their's. ? Hmm.

So what do y'all think? Should I get one, and if so which would you rather have? I'm thinking about shelling the extra for the Roush, (I've got a show car so nice shiny things are a big plus, lol) but when it comes down to it, it's just the name really that's marking up the price. I'll appreciate any comments, just curious as what others would do in my situation...

I'm rather anal when it comes to my "Stang" so I prolly shouldn't give an opinion I'd no doubt go with the Roush because it looks tough. BUT they are both aluminum and you mentioned shiney!!! Edgewood makes a kit to polish aluminum manifolds etc. to makem' look like a million. Therefore you could save $75 spend it on the kit, outlay the same $ and have one that looks like chrome.

Now that I've told you absolutely nothin'

I agree 100% - I'd wind up paying over 200 bucks for Roush's simply because the name stamped on the thing.
Haven't ordered one yet, but I'm gonna go with Trick Flow's, for looks and cost. Now I've just gotta do some smart shopping and find who sells 'em for cheap. Cheapest I've found is $149.95 + s/h if anyone happens to run into one for less than that I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. Thanks for all the comments - the Roush and Ford Racings both look sweet, but who is gonna be looking under there anyways? Especially if I lower the car, lol.

TA is the original company that made rear end girdles for the public. Back in the late 80s and 90s all you could get was a TA girdle. There was no Roush, Ford Racing, Trick Flow or any of these other brands. TA probably makes the Roush piece. I can guarantee Roush doesn't make them. Get a TA or Trick Flow. You shouldn't have to pay more than $140 for a girdle. They are all the same.

Thanks a lot man. I'll def. heed your advice. I've heard TA has good history w/ford so that's all that really matters to me. Good info/advice.. very much appreciated.

You can't really see the diff cover from behind anyway so looks shouldn't be an option. I wenr with a TA and had one of the set screws back out on me...alot of my diff fluid leaked out and cost me a auburn pro differential and some new gears. Keep an eye on your bolts and make sure they stay snug.

Thanks for the heads up.

I went with the low-profile cover w/recessed access bolts but I haven't figured out if they require any additional ft/lbs of torque. I agree that it doesn't have to be flashy because it won't be seen ever, so I just went with TA's "stock" looking girdle but it looks good for how cheap I got it. I do like that it has a drain plug as well.
