Flashing O/D Light?

My girls 96 GT started acting weird on our way to missouri this week, 1st of all, the speedo just quit working. The needle stuck on 50 and slowly came back down, after we got here, about 30 miles later, it started back when we went somewhere else. And then, during that drive, the O/D light on the dash started flashing, maybe 7 times or so and then it quit. It also did that last night, any idea what I could check? The only other light on in the cluster is the ABS light.

try taking it to a tranny shop or someone who has a scanner for the tranny, flashing o/d light usually means something electronic in the transmission maybe your vss is going bad since your mph was sticking hope this helps

i was thinking my vss is going bad man, and also the car has 3.73's in and the speedo hasnt even been set right, maybe that matters?
