2001 GT Motor In My 98 Gt

Hey guys wanted some advice...I have a 98 mustang gt and unfortuantley my motor gave up on me this weekend...My mechanic is going to put a 2001 mustang gt engine in it with 22,000 miles on it...Is this a good swap? Should i feel and get more hp with this motor seeing that it is a pi motor?

Thanks!!

He's charging me 1500 for everything...Said he's going to use everything from the intake manifold up from my 98 gt motor and put it on the 2001 motor...Is this a good price?

well unless you have a pi manifold on your car now the manifold wont work because of the different port designs the non pi motors have teardrop port and the pi heads have a square port but other than that everything else will work and welcome to the forums

so he will have to use the intake manifold from the 2001 motor because the 98 intake manifold wont fit?

Will i feel the power increase with the 2001 motor in my 98 body?

npi won't fit unless he uses special plates or rtv to seal the leaks in the ports..... and if he does manage all that, ur going to pretty much rob urself of up to 20rwhp...

u want the whole motor, including the intake manifold. if he can't supply one, buy one

i trust my mechanic so im pretty sure hes going to use the manifold from the 2001 but if for some reason he tried to get cheap...how would i be able to tell if he used the 98 manifold on the 2001 motor? Also will i feel a big difference in power with the 2001 motor instead of the 98 motor?

it will probably leak coolant unless he uses alot of silicone LOL .....he will need to use the 2001 intake and drill and tap a hole for the extra coolant sensor your 98 has that the 2001 intake doesnt have a hole for by the thermostat housing

Thanks guys for the info...i just was making sure i know what to look for when i pick up the car...i got to go down to the shop tommorow anyways so i will make sure i know that he does everything the right way...

Is 1500 a good price for the swap...the 2001 motor has 20,000 miles on it....He was going to put another 98 engine in there but i told him thats a waist, might as well get a pi motor!!

1500 for the swap is a helluva deal, if thats including labor.. especially for low mileage, and its already PI.. just make sure he uses, the pi intake..

You will love the new engine.

i paid 2000 for my 03 motor with 43000 miles and another 1000 to get everything installed. he was wanting 1400 but i gave him my 98 block so he knocked 400 off. to me that sounds hella awesome. just make sure when u get parts from now on to get them for the 01 and u have to make sure u know which 01 motor u have. thats when they swapped a few things on it and i know the water pump for sure is diffrent
