whatever you do go with a plastic CAI. becasue the steel ones get to be just as hot as the engine and defeats the purpose of the CAI if its taking in hot air. the plastics one from K@N will stay cool.

X2 the K&N or JLT are the ONLY way to go, also avoid a fender mount cai the extra bend does more harm than good.

It depends on what you consider a true cold air, most chrome cai lose power from heat. I saw a 97 on the dyno lose 15 rwhp from high intake air temps from a BBK cai on a 85* day. I say leave the filter in the factory location, shield it from the engine compartment and it is a true cold air. The K&N and JLT air two of the better systems by far.

That sheild would have to run from the fender to the throttle body, you are far better off with factory piping and a open filter than a pos chrome cia. There is no way around it metal transfers heat, heated air temps. lower power levels.

i think mine is stainless steel, bad th ing is i removed a K @ N for it. Even tho i still got it in my shed. I figure all that plastic coverings would lower it tho. Feels like it has more power without it.
