2 quick questions ... gears

1) Does 327's sound right for stock '96 gt gears? I thought that I read '96s come stock with 273s or 308s.

2) Noob question(ducks). Do they make "dial" gauges that are electronically controlled ...

SpeedCal Device: A SpeedCal is an electronic device that allows you to adjust the signal that is being transmitted from your transmission to calibrate for gear changes. This works on Mustangs with both Computer Controlled Electronic Gauges and Non-Computer Controlled Electronic Gauges (1994-2004 Mustangs).

or are they talking about digital gauges.

I'm checking to see if I got to change the speedometer gear in the tranny or if I can do it electronically.

You will have to get a mini-gear. You dials are mechanical not electrical

To answer your other questions. Mine has 2.73's in it and im not positive but i think all 96 and 97's came with them and i think most 98's came with 3.27's. Not 100 percent sure on that

I just crawled out from under my car.

1st #'s on the tag were ... 3L27.

It was the only #'s that even looked like a ratio.

There's a metal tag on one of the bolts on your rear end.

After reading a little more on the speed cal from AM. I checked the install info and found a chart that shows ... 327s, 308s and 273 for stock gears.http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/musta...g/speedcal.pdf.

Any clue if I can use this on my GT?
