Heater Core

Does anybody know if you have to remove the entire dash to replace the heater core or is it on the other side of the firewall?

whole dash has to be pulled out, the hard part for me was the air box, i just cut it open to get the heater core out but i dont suggest that (though my heater works perfectly). there are tons of write ups out there, one is on modular depot i believe. its just time consuming.

***when i say the dash needs to be pulled out, i dont mean completely out just enough to get to the air box.

Heater Core replace

I just did it on my 96GT conv. Very labor intensive, but can be done. I did not remove the dash on the drivers side altho I took all the fasteners out. I slid the ac/heater box back from the firewall about 6 inches and then removed the top of the box to get at the core. Remove ALL of the ford goop inside the box, it will crush the new core if you dont. I marked every fastener and kept a list of the things I did because it was an after work project. While the seats and center console were out I replaced the carpets with $99 set from eBay. Heater core is not something I'd like to do alot of, but my mechanic quoted $700 for labor. UncRap
