the 5.4 has arrived!!!


went up north to alpena. hell yea bitches!!!! got my 5.4 from the junkyard. paid cash for that sucker. $400. damn i am stoked. gunna go up there soon enough again to grab my mustang. gunna take it apart and gunna do most of the work fixing it up and making it pretty myself.

I paid 1400 shipped from alabama Complete from TB to Oil Pan and harness.
04 40k miles.

Wish i had looked around for a better deal but i needed it fast for the Truck that i was driving at the time.

ok well im gunna be doing all the work myself. ie. valve job, honing the cylinders( maybe boring), turning the crank, boiling the engine. but my question is what are some tricks to this engine? ie my dad has a lincoln 460 engine and drilled some holes in it to improve oil flow.

i should have gotten a 5.4 for 250 but my uncle kinda effed that one up. i am still happy with this one. so im not gunna complain.

ok well i want to bore it out so that in the end it is a 5.5L. how much do i have to bore it out tog et this displacement? is it .010 or .020?

Unless you have a A large mill and block plates you are not going to bore that out yourself. Your best bet for determining your C.I is to find a calculator online and use it. Do not go anymore that .020" if you are going to bore it, thin cylinder wall are not exactly going to help make power and may lead to further damage down the road. Only bore the block if it needs to be done....

ok then can anyone tell me the bore and stroke of the 5.4 then? i wont go past .020, thats the maximum i would go. and im not sure what a large mill and blockplates are.
