ummm ok. so i dont mean to stir things up again or anything. but i have heard that front coilovers dont ruin your ride as much as the rear coilovers and was actually gunna just stick with the fronts. is this a wise move or am i misinformed?

What spring rate are these "soft drag springs"? I'm assuming these are in a coilover setup.

What spring rate are steeda sport springs? And I'm assuming these were in the factory inboard location.

Well, not exactly when you're talking Mustang. With the geometry of the 4-link in the fox-chassis, going from a rubber bushed triangulated 4-link to a properly engineered torque arm/watts link configuration with poly (or even spherical) bushings will allow the suspension to properly flex, and actually remove harshness from your ride.

I do not want to go into the math here. But the ride quality to stiffness of the Coil overs vs. stock spring set up, your totally wrong. You essentially get 1/3 the wheel rate of your springs and 2/3 the spring's stifness to your ride quality. With Coil overs is 90% or 9/10 wheel rate and ride quality. its simple level physics. basically, your stock 450 lbs springs are giving your ~300lbs./in of force on your butt. And your only getting ~100 lbs/in to your wheels. This means Shit handling. With Coil overs. your 250 lb/in drag shocks give you 230 lb/in on your butt and the wheels. This means softer ride and better handling. Do you have after market sway bars on your car with your coil overs? Also, do you ahve bilstein shocks, otherwise you were not supposed to remove the rubber bushing on the top of your shock for the coil overs. You may be a victim of shitty coil overs.

The general rule for rear coil overs is, they are much more harsh. the reason is the spring rates. Your stock rear springs are super soft, and even super soft coil overs are never goign to be much softer than stock. So as far as ride quality goes, it only gets worse. However, like most of the suspension in our cars, adjustments to the rear makes the biggest difference. If you are confused or have more questions, take a look at my "Official Suspension Guide" all the math is explained there for coil overs and wheel rates. If you have further issues with your personal set up or with questions about your future plans, feel free to ask. I have amassed a large amount of knowledge on my quest for laughing at Ferrari's. Tell me what you have and how its installed, and I bet I can tell you why your ride quality is soo bad. You might also consider that if you can't handle a harsher ride quality than your stock set up, you might want to find a new hobby, because there isn't much you can do that will help your handling for any type of performance that is going to give you much better ride quality.

What you "should" do is totally based on your budget and your goals/use for the car.

Personally, I think everyone should rip out the UCAs and switch to a torque-arm setup; If I came into billions of dollars, I'd start a grant program for Mustang owners to do just that because I hate the UCAs *that* much.

However, the parts alone for a decent TA/PB setup cost about $1k, and most Mustang owners can't or won't spend that much money on "just" the rear suspension.

Yet ANOTHER informative post from MM's own ModMustang97GT

I HIGHLY recommend The Official Suspension Guide, and have on many occasions, to anyone looking to upgrade the Stang suspension on his/her ride.

As for The Rev's 12:12pm post above, you asked EXACTLY the questions I typed, but then just backed out and took the other fork in the road, I am not kidding

I might be shunned by some, but I have had a Granatelli k-member for 3 years and love it. It fit perfectly and by my opinion is quite beefy, i've seen a QA1 and the GMS has more cross-bracing.

Hey your happy with it, who really cares what brand name you get, as long as it does what you wanted it to do, thats all that would matter to me.
