Fuel pump bad already?
I installed a Holley/Walbro 190lph fuel pump in 1998. I've not even put 20k miles on the car since then (only have 46k miles on the car now and bought new in Oct 96).
Recently, the car ran fine with no signs of a weak or dying fuel pump. So I roll up to my apartment with my g/f last weekend, go inside to pick up some things I needed to study for a test, and then I came back outside to leave. I go to start the car and it turned over fine, but wouldn't fire up. Automatically thinking in diagnostic mode, I listened for the fuel pump to prime. Normally when I turn the key, I can hear that 190lph pump prime up. But All I heard when I turned the key now is the relay (I assume) click, but no pump noise from priming up. Is it normal for these high volume pumps to die in such short use and mileage? Could these new Ethanol blended fuel have killed it faster? Anything else I need to check before buying a new pump? I'll check the fuse of course. Damn this sucks! The car has a full tank of gas and its 35 miles away from my folks' house were my tools are to fix this shit! The tow bill is going to rape me!

I'll check that. Don't know what would have triggered it if it did kick the pump off, though. Thanks.

That really sucks, try checking for an electrical problem first. That button in the trunk is a fuel shut off switch, it opens when it senses a high inertia impact (crash) and cuts power to the fuel pump. I dont think thats your problem dough, unless somebody crashed your car while it was parked, but you would've notice. Hope your fuel pump is ok.

ethanol could have been the problem, but i doubt it. it does slowly eat away at rubber and aluminum though.
