coolant leaked out of my coolant cap?
last nite i went to work, and then when i went out to my car on break two hours later, i noticed that there was something leaking from under my car, i opened the hood, and it was coming from the coolant cap. it leaked a little bit more on the morning, because when i got off work it had a little more there. I tried to open it up during my break but i shut it cuz i could feel the pressure and it felt like it was goin to overflow.
I noticed the coolant hose was super swollen, i couldnt even squeeze it. I got home today, and i let the car run a little after i got home let the fans come on, an the hose was fat again, but i was told that is normal. I just think that since my drive is so short, the thermo might not open up, the car didnt even get past the N on the temp gauge, cuz i get to work in like 10 mins... and i was driving like 90+ cuz i was late. oh yeah i have a 180 degree thermo in there too if that makes a diff. any help would be appreciated thanks.

the thing is i just replaced it like.. 2 months ago... it doesnt make any sense... i tested it out and everything b4 i put it in... i guess im goin to have to pull it and check it again tomorrow.. cuz the car did have this problem b4 i changed it, and the old thermostat wasnt opening up all the way, crap.
i think that it should be fine for two short drives, 10 mins each from my house to work, and then back in the morn, the temp will be cool at both times... ill pull the thermostat out tomorrow.. and prolly buy a backflush kit tomorrow at work and use that tomorrow too, to make sure there isnt random shit in the cooling system pluggin it up, damn this sucks... any other things it could possibly be?

Like you said there could be a restriction somewhere in the cooling sys. Also you should replace that hose, is no good anymore.

so i flushed everything, and i think my problem was that i had overfilled it... but is that even possible? cuz when i filled it back up, i had like 12 oz of coolant left over from b4 plus some that spilled on the floor..
another thing i think is happening... is that my drive is so short.. and i dont warm up my car, so then the thermostat might not have a chance to open, so the water pump just pushes water into the radiator. either way, i am not gonna overdo it for now, and im goin to leave it for now, i let it heat up to where the fans come on and everything felt fine. so yeah, i think it should be fine for my drive to work and back

maybe your constant controle relay module is bad? Mine did that a few times before finding out what it was. but then again you said it didnt over heat?

it doesnt overheat... mainly cuz i drive it in cool weather what does the constant control relay module do?
i'd get a beater, but i just started my job and i dont have enough money for that yet... but yeah, i checked it again today at work after i parked it, and no leak.. just lots of pressure inside the cooling system... is it supposed to be like that even after two hours of the car being off and parked? i do run the car pretty hard on my drive tho.. like 85-100plus sometimes on the highway

sorry to bring this thread back to life, but yeah I have another problem, you guys said it could be air pockets last time.. so i was wondering if it was possible they filled up? because the other day, i had low coolant, it took about a liter of water, and i only drove it like two days, so im unsure what was up with that, but i filled it again, and not too high either.
i can tell the pressure is really high in that system so i really do think something is up. it doesn't overheat, but i can tell that sometimes there is like coolant residue from like coolant steam coming from the cap or something when i drive. it hasn't spilled on the floor anymore. since i flushed the system, but yeah... what would cause so much pressure in the system? is it just getting really hot that is doing that? could it be the sensors in the intake? or the one by the radiator cap that arent workin?

i need the car for work... it sucks... cuz i dont know if i can get it fixed right now... no dinero till next thurs... sucks... any other advice? tips?

i did look at my heads, how can i tell something is wrong with them? right now i went online and i found out some stuff, the car does have slight oil residue in the coolant.. i can tell from when i open up the radiator cap, its underneath and on top of the coolant, i opened up the oil cap, there's no oil coolant in that one.. so i think that it is minimal as of now...

You need to do a cylinder leak down test, with that you will know exactly where is your head gasket problem.

its those head gaskets brother, creating air pockets in the coolant passages, over pressurizing it. coolant wont get in the oil pan as easily as oil can get into the coolant lines. Oil is under way more pressure than coolant. If there is coolant in your oil then something is really fucked up

yeah i found oil in the coolant, but not vice versa... imma try a temp fix for now.. and then see how much it'll cost to replace the head gaskets... do you guys have any idea how long this would take if i tried it myself? i know im not that experienced with the car in this sense, or if its just better to take to a mechanic? how would i do a leak down test?
when i was revving it earlier... there was lots of water coming from the exhaust... esp on the left exhaust pipe... which sucks... cuz i think thats the bank the leak is going to be on... i just took a flashlight outside right now, and the smoke from the pipes is kinda white at start up... more symptoms huh? dang... how much should this cost to fix?

you have a blown head gasket or something of that nature and your burning coolant.
