Wish me luck ...
I'm about to start my exhaust work, laying on the ground.
![]() Hey ... at least I got a "tent" garage over me. I got it blocked up yesterday. The back end is up on 2 cap blocks (8") and the front is up on jack stands. They only have a 17" max lift but I think I'll be ok. I just really hate using jack stands in dirt. Side note, my driver's seat is all prepped. I just got to put the leather on. Gears will go in when she comes out this spring. COME ON SPRING ... please. 50* yesterday and snowing today.

GL...exhaust isn't too bad...just annoying cuz usually shit's rusted together. I recommend PB blaster. Let us know how it goes!

I wish. Still snowing here, got about 2.5" of slushy snow. ![]() Well I'm finding out how much fun the starter is. I got strut tower brace and air inlet tube off up top. Going for the lift motor route. Underneath I got the 4 O2 sensors unplugged, starter wires and wire bracket off. Bottom nut loose, eyeballing the bolt on top of solenoid and the one on top of the starter. When I get the starter off I plan on torching the bolts at the manifold/mid pipe, and the bolts at the mid pipe/muffler pipe. What I'm getting worried about are the manifold/head bolts. I'm not sure I'll have the right assortment of tools to get at them. Also I'm real worried about snapping one off in the head. They look seriously rusted and I never have any luck with exhaust bolts. I'll pick up some PB Blaster if I can find it at my local auto parts store.

Alright ... auto store list:
PB Blaster A couple swivels (I have none) Check on impact tools. I have a 1hp/5gal craftsman compressor. It has a 125psi limit. It might be enough to run a 3/8 impact. It's a little chilly laying out there today.

Well I bought a 3/8 air ratchet .... my little compressor doesn't like it very much.
![]() I got the starter off. It's a royal PITA. I found that a deepwell+swivel+3" extension 3/8 drive will let you get between the starter and motor mount for the top bolt. I cut the mid pipe bolts (both ends), and cut mufflers right at back of muffler before it goes over the axle. My Flows will be welded in. I got Liquid Wrench penetrating oil on the manifold bolts. I got to work the next 3 days (12hr shifts), so no playing in the tent for me. I'm going to hit the manifold bolts with the penetrating oil each of the 3 days tho. Hopefully that will help, man them things are nasty. So it looks like Saturday before try wrenching on them. I'm also going to install the electronic speed cal (AM) while the exhaust is off. There's alot more room around the tranny now.

.... I can only dream. The absolute worst is that the snow in my back yard is melting. ![]() But the snow that is still there is acting like a levee and holding a lot of water inside my tent. The front 5' is a puddle. The plus side ... I had water for cooling the pipes off after I cut them.

What's up ppl. I had to dig my thread out of the grave.
![]() It's been awhile because my job switched hours on me. I'm working 12hr shifts now, 3 on ... 3 off, the day I work I get nothing done on the stang. Kind of shitty too seeing my Ranger (dd) shit to bed on me last week. Anyhoo ... 1st 3 days went fine. Passenger side header is all in, starter is back in. Moved over to driver side for the 2nd 3 day stretch. So much for the driver side being the easy side. ![]() Well it actually was a little easier as far as getting the manifold off. But a $10 part just stopped me dead in my tracks. I had a hell of a time with the EGR tube, but got it after a lot of elbow grease. Got the manifold off. Think I'm doing great ... WRONG !!! I went to take the fitting for the EGR tube out of the manifold. Nope, won't budge. I lock it into a vise, heat the manifold around the fitting, put the socket back on it and .... ![]() Now I have a 2 piece fitting, fuckin' thing snapped in half. I call my local Ford dealership parts counter. $10.45 for the fitting. Problem is no dealership within 100mi of me has any in stock. They'll have to order it from National warehouse and will take from 3-7 days to get. ![]() I'm going to hit a lot of hardware and plumbing stores before my dealership today but I think I'm SOL. If it wasn't for that POS fitting, I'd been driving my stang today. Sorry for the long winded post, I just needed to vent a little.
